I'm really stressed out. I have more stuff on my plate than I can get done in one day. I can't seem to catch up, because I'm the only one who's here every day. We just went through everyone taking vacations, and then one person's working from home all last week and this week because she had surgery, and on Monday two people were out. There's only 5 people in our office, and I'm having a hard time handling everyone else's work in addition to my own. I even dreamed about work last night and not being able to get everything done.

My husband got an email on his phone last night from the boss acting as if we just appiled to have Friday off. She was asking the rest of the directors if they would be at work on Friday because she ahs it off and my husband just requested it off. Sorry b**** we got approved for that day back in January! furious
They only extra day is Thursday. I was totally peeved with American Idol. The judges can kiss my butt. furious
Then I went to bed and did not sleep a wink. I just couldn't! So I'm gonna be moving and have no energy! On top of that I got to spend the 4 o'clock hour sick in the bathroom. cry

Oh thought of a few good stuff for other thread.

Same here, which is why I'm so swamped.  I asked a supplier for a quote on cards and envelopes, and they give me the wrong size of card and no envelopes.  I work up a huge quote in a program, and as I click save, the program crashes.  Same program ends up sending our net pricing to our customers instead of retail.  Etc, etc, etc.  It's like I have to do everything at least twice.

I'm sorry to hear that MZ. So you have top pick up the slack whenever these people are out? They don't have some accountability to timing their own projects? That would be frustrating!

I am sorry that today doesn't seem to be a very good workday. I am not too bad. I spent time this morning preparing boxes to be sent to off site storage. I spent enough time on my feet. So I returned to my desk, mainly to sit down, have a drink and send some e-mails. Fun.

Gripe on!

No, the problem is the timing of our customers.  Most of the jobs we do have a date that the customer needs the items by.  In some cases, especially now that IU is at the end of their fiscal year, one day can make a $50 (rush charge at many suppliers) or more difference.  Most of our projects are short term enough that if someone's gone for more than a day or two, someone else has to help the customer.

It looks like "Faceball" would be more interesting if you used bowling balls instead of beach balls.

And then you get people like the guy who just called.  When he found out the person he should be working with was at lunch, he wanted me to get his quote for him, even after I told him it would still require a call back because that information isn't readily available.

I told him no, but I haven't always.  That's how I end up getting so busy doing everyone else's work.

AND... (Yes, you've got me started) I'm the only one who realizes the value of answering the phone. Everyone else thinks that if you're too busy, then the voicemail will get it. I think that's bad customer service. If you're calling a business, you want to talk to a person, not voicemail. Which means, I end up answering the majority of the calls, even when I let it get to 3 or 4 rings.

Ok I just made up a form to use for mid-month notifications. furious

Oh, I had a boss like that once, and I hated it.  She liked to make processes instead of addressing problems.

what I hate is that I can't go and talk to the other 2 people involved (my hubby and my supervisor) because the big boss is always around them. My coworker up here told me that she over heard her pitching her idea to them. But I don't know what was said. Personally I find it stupid. Hold the staff accountable for not doing their job. Don't make me hold their hand! furious

It okay Woo. Breathe. Just a few more hours. Then you can have stress of a different kind.

Hi all!!  Wow, sorry that JD, Mz, and Woo are having such a crummy day at work! I hope something good happens for each of you to make up for it.  smile

I've got to start gathering stuff together to take up to our cottage for the summer.  We're going up Friday for the weekend.  clap.gif  I can't wait to get there; we haven't been to it since Labor Day.....life kept getting in the way, preventing us from going.

I'm hoping it gets warmer....dang, it's only in the low 50s with a north wind today...downright chilly outside!  cry

Hope everyone's afternoon goes better than the morning did!!!  smile

I still think moving stress will be better than work stress. If everyone shows that says they are, it should go quick

You have a good point. I attened an operational Excellence seminar that reccommended against answering every call that comes in - they told us to let them "batch" and set intervals for responsing to them. However, that really doesn't work for every business situation. When you're a point person for time-sensitive work, especially, it frustrates the customer and actually sometimes makes it harder to get the work done. I agree on your point - I rarely will let a call pass me by...or an email for that matter, if it seems to have potential urgency.

I just found out that I have to take tomorrow off so that my husband can take my father-in-law to have heart surgery. They were supposed to do it next week when I had a sitter, but I guess it's serious, so I'll be home tomorrow. So much to do and I really can't afford to get behind, but family is familiy.

Hello everyonesmile

I have been away from my computer a lot more than I normally am. I helped my dad remodel his kitchen and now I am suffering from a severe case of allergies.
I think it came from sanding all of the cabinets and walls.

I am going out to dinner with a co-worker of mine. She seems really depressed and she needs to get out of the house.
