Songs from the 80's you STILL HATE!

What song(s) do you hate from the 80's that you still hate as much as you did then?!

For me it's Kajagoogoo's "Too Shy". I was 12 or 13 yrs old when that song came out, and I remember saying "I will hate this song for my entire life". 22 yrs later and that prediction was dead on!

Oh and "Sussudio". Goll dang it if that wasn't on the radio every 15 minutes for like 7 yrs!

Yeah, you're trampling on some of my favorites, EXPECIALLY 99 LUFT BALLONS!

But that's ok.  Even a #1 hit single has plenty of people that can't stand it.

I think that I liked it until I saw the video.  But now, I can't even remember the video but know that I still don't like the song.  Sorry.

99 Luftballoons is one, but I'd also have to go with Phil Collins "Groovy Kind of Love".  There's just something about the song that's obnoxious.

For me for a long time it was Born In The USA by SPringsteen. It just got played like every 15 minutes on the radio for like 7 yrs. And it just didn't sound like the good Springsteen stuff of old. But then I heard a live version of it recently and have taken a liking to the song.

I think among his many talents as a singer, song writer and live performer, what sometimes gets lost (for those who are not hard-core bruce fans) is just what a phenomenal guitar player the guy is too. I'd say he rivals Neil Young's Crazy Horse stuff for being able to pull other-wordly sounds from his guitar!

Secret Lovers from Atlantic Starr.  The way they so sweetly sang their ode to scummy infidelity irks me to this day!

I ABHOR Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam's "Lost in Emotion". Her baby voice grates on my last nerve. If I never heard it ever again in my whole life, I would be a very thankful person. (So...who's going to request it first????)

That was just a BAD cover.

Cheap Trick doesn't like the song, either.  It was at a time when their record company was looking for "a hit" and was forcing them to record other writers' songs.  It was a dark time in CT history, and the serious CT fans don't like that song either.

LS,

I hope you don't include Cheap Tricks "Can't Stop Falling Into Love" in that list.

I LOVE THAT SONG!

Excellent!

I didn't care for "The Flame" either. But I did think their cover of "Don't Be Cruel" was great.

My Dad, who was a HUGE Elvis fan also loved that cover.  And I love the stand-up bass that Tom uses in the video & in concert.  Very cool.

LS, it's funny, I think that's part of why I liked DON'T BE CRUEL so much, because it had my Dad's stamp of approval which was sooooooooooooooo rare, expecially for a cover version.

But he really liked that one, in fact when we would take trips up north he always wanted me to bring that CD for that song.

JD, You weren't alone, THE FLAME was a huge hit for the band.

I think robin zander is a bit too into himself but man could he hit the notes in that song.

LOL I remember walking hand in hand with a girl from highschool through the alleys as we walked home from a bowling alley- stopped by the little shop where you could buy cassette singles, getting 2 of them- one for me- one for her then sitting out back, in the alley, playing that on a boom box.....

I was suuuuuuuuuuuuch an 80's sap.

I am a true blue CT fan, but as much as I hate to admit it sometimes, I am also a girl.  And I love "The Flame".  The song makes me swoon.  Even if it isn't authentic CT.

I absolutely hate this song! Besides that I never cared for it,my mom said the song was about her & she acts very strange when it's on. She's twisted & her singing!

Great song.  Great video, too.  What do you mean what is that all about?  Don't you know your mythology, JD?
