Nutella

Never had it, so I don't know if I'd like it. I was wondering what any of you thought on Nutella? It is made out of hazelnuts, and I like hazelnut coffee; but not sure about a spread.
Do you have it w/ jelly, is it like peanut butter, suggestions? Just curious, before I go out and buy and it and HATE it...

NUTELLA??!! Food of the gods!!

It's great to dip pretzels in, spread on graham crackers, or my favorite: mix it with peanut butter and put some on a banana (YUM!) Or if you have your period, spoon it straight outta the container. Love, love, love the stuff!

I've always been curious about this stuff too. It looks good, but I've never tried it.

It's amazing! My mother-in-law is from Germany, and this is really popular in Germany. So long before you'd see the stuff in Costco, she would get it from niche places. We had to stop buying it, because I was putting it on everything, and getting fat! laughing.gif

Consistency-wise, it's similar, but a little drippier.  It's so delicious, I can't tell you!  We would have bananas, and take 1/4 spoonful of peanutbutter, and 1/4 spoonful of Nutella & put it on the banana.... heaven!

Ah, that was my next question. So I assume it's not a healthier alternative to Peanut Butter then.

I love peanut butter, but never buy it because it's so high in fat.

so it seems 50 . 50 here as far as members who've tried it. I'm just hoping if I try it and fall in love with it, I am not doing something wrong here.

I truly can't love or loathe something I've never tried, but once I do it, it could be dangerous. Like cheesecake, I should have NEVER TRIED IT!! Because now I love it!

So if we had this same skepticism when it came to trying the cheesecake the first time we wouldn't know what we were missing.

I'm not trying anything new ever again!!! ashamed.gif

I grew up on Nutella! It's a chocolate spread with hazelnuts, just like you said. We would usually put it on a slice of white bread and fold it over. So yum. They have it at the Schnucks supermarkets near us. I haven't had it in a long time - too high in sugar. I agree with one thing - it's very addictive. I, too, would eat it on everything or just plain out of the jar. I don't think it's better for you than peanut butter. It's very high in sugar, which will turn into fat if you don't use it up. I guess it just depends on what dietary theory you subscribe to.

It is addictive. I put it on bananas. I stopped buying it because it is so decadent.

You know those truffles you can get that are individually wrapped that they have at places like Borders and Barnes & Nobel at the cafe? (I forget what they're called.) This tastes like the filling.

The Germans use hazelnuts in a lot of their sweets. One of my favorites candies is Hanuta. It's two wafer with a filling in between the tastes like Nutella with chopped up hazelnuts in it. They are so good. smile.gif I keep waiting for sugar free Nutella, but I don't think it will ever happen. When it does, I'm going to invent the Nutella diet. wink.gif

I picked up a jar of Nuttela at the store last night and decided to put it back down. I was going to try it for you but decided not to spend the 4 bucks just in case I didn't like it.
