you know what would be funny....have jenn drive you for this, but go into a bar there and order 6 shots. have the bartender slide them down to the end of the bar to you. You can then say you got shot at and got bombed in Iraq.

ooh, yeah!

I could actually just get two shots then I could say I took two shots in Iraq.

Just a disclaimer, I don't mean to make light of what people are going through there. I just think it would be cool to be able to say I was in Iraq.

I'm gonna have to find out exactly where it is. I don't think it's far from me because it came up on a Monster.com search and I had it set for 30 miles or closer.

Jenn laughed at me when I told her there was an Iraq, NC and she insisted there wasn't.

So I pulled up the mapquest to prover her wrong! Unfortunately I proved myself wrong.

It turns out that the jobs on Monster.com that listed Iraq, NC were for actual jobs in IRAQ!!!

Holy cow though, I should seriously consider a few of them! $90,000 a year to be a desk clerk!!!

I'm serious though, they're paying up to $120,000 for jobs that would pay $15,000 here.

Of course, you have to dodge bullets while you file smile.gif

I dodge bullets everyday when I file, and I am not in Iraq, but surrounded by guns.

Speaking of high turnover rates and tough jobs.

When I came to NC in February there was a job near here that caught my eye.

It's working for US Express as a recruiter.  Interviewing and recruiting people to drive semi's for them.

I was really bummed at the time because I figured I was gonna miss out on applying for a great job since I wouldn't be back for three months.

Well, it was still available when I got back, and is still available today.  Which got me wondering why.

I suppose it's because it's got to be a very difficult job right now.  Who in their right mind wants to make a living driving a semi with Deisel at $5 a gallon?  Most of those guys are essentially independent contractors.

About four months ago on the news I remember seeing the local news station doing a story from a truck stop, where truckers were saying if deisel hit $4 a gallon they were gonna have to park their trucks because THAT was their break even point!

aw remember the semi drive-in protests in washington a couple years ago when gas was reaching $3 a gallon??? One guy said he was just gonna leave his semi there. couldn't afford the gas, so couldn't afford the work, so couldn't afford the payment on the rig.hmm.gif

I wonder how things are at CS Logistics, the place I used to work as a courier.

Gas prices were killing the drivers back then and at that time it was only $2.60 a gallon!

I bet they are having a hell of a time keeping drivers.

All of our "help wanted" ads in the newspaper are companies looking for drivers.  I imagine they're going to have a really hard time filling those positions.

A few of my daughter's friends do deliveries for pizza places, sub shops, etc.  They're all complaining about how much it's costing them each week for gas to do their job.  None of them get any kind of reimbursement from the companies they work for, and they say a lot of people have stopped tipping them too.
