I'm up extra early. I had a "server down" alarm go off about 45 minutes before I was to get up so I'm staying up. I'd probably just get back to sleep in time to get back up anyway. The server problem was over by the time I got logged into it so that was no big deal.
I've got a little reading to do for this morning anyway, so I think I'll put in some eye drops to help wake up and get that reading done.
We had some more thunder storms roll through last night, but nothing severe. Its 59 now with an expected high of 75. It looks to be a nice day.
Good morning everyone. Well that hot weather everyone has been talking about has arrived here in New England. Predicting a 100 degree today..Ugh! HHH Hazy, Hot, Humid along w/ it.
Yesterday went to my churches flea market, great bargains, bought an old vintage AA book- 1967, found out that there are collectors of these books. Listed it on Ebay, and this morning I already have 5 bids, and it's up to $48..... amazing, I paid 50cents for it! I probably should give half of it back to the church. It's my church so why not>
Good morning all. It's sunny, warm, and humid again this morning. Went for a ride yesterday to survey Friday's storm damage. Lots and lots of trees are uprooted, some are broken off right in the middle of the trunk. Many streets are closed due to trees lying across them. A lot of people have damage to their homes and cars; mainly because of trees falling on them. There are still 11,000 people in the hardest hit area without power; may not be back on til Tuesday or Wednesday. A lot of traffic lights aren't working and businesses in the area are closed until power comes back on. No serious injuries have been reported. We drove by the collapsed building; don't know how anyone escaped injury when it fell, but someone was definitely looking out for the people that were still at work when the building fell. Although a tornado warning wasn't issued during the storm, they are investigating the destruction because they believe it was in fact a tornado that went over. People are happy their homes are still standing.
I plan to do some painting today. I've got two outdoor metal chairs and a table in need of a fresh coat of paint. And I think I'll paint the picnic table frame while I'm at it....it's been a while since that was last painted. I hate cleaning up after using oil based enamel though. Maybe I can get my hubby to clean up the brushes when I'm done today.
Reports from back home are that we've had the worst rains in my lifetime there. Major flooding, a couple building collapses. And I'm missing it all
I've been busting my hump exercising and watching what I eat the last two weeks. Today is a day of relaxation finally I plan to do as little as possible.
Good day all. Things here are sunny and breezy. That will help with all the flooding. we got off easy being on the northern edge of everything. All that water is moving south. Columbus was shut off to as all roads were flooded shut. Columbus Hospital had to move all the patients as 4 inches of water was in the first floor and the basement was underwater. They airlifted patients out. Camp Atterbury was hit by a tornado on Tuesday and got 10 inches of rain Saturday. There are National Guard Troops from North Carolina here and I bet they can't wait to leave. Even they were assisting with the floods.
Our roads opened up around 8-9 last night. We got off easy. I'm airing out the garage and I'm going to check the crawl space for water. For some reason we have a dry crawl space all the time but 6-8 inches of rain may have changed that.
Here are a couple of pictures from this morning. What a difference 24 hours makes.
