That Song!!

Everyone normally has a song that when they listen to it, it just sends shivers down your spine, for many reasons, maybe love, loss, memories, whatever it is, which song is it for you?

Mine is Amazed by Lonestar, I can barley listen to it, it brings back so many memories of my first true love and subsequent lost love, the lyrics just seemed to sum up our relationship.

I had forgot all about it till I saw it on the automated playlist, then I just had to play it, so thats the what I thought I would do my first post about, Whats the one song that sends shivers down your spine?

Thinking Of You by Sa-Fire always makes me think of my grandfather who died when I was 7.

Everytime I hear it I immediately am taken back to the images of my father showing up at the classroom door, with a horrible look on his face (it was his father).

And I remember all the crying I did the next three days.  One thing that stuck in my head as a kid was how beautiful the weather was, bright, sunny days, it felt so wierd to deal with such a dark topic for the first time in my life, it was hard to beleive that on a day so perfect for playing all I could do was cry.

Wish I had a BETTER memory attached to a song!

Excellent thread!!

For me its "With or Without You" by U2- the end part where Bono strums on the guitar as the song fades out. I was learning to play guitar back then, and that was the first thing that I could do perfectly right along with a song that was playing on the radio.

Another one in "Man On The Moon" by REM. That was simply the best song that I have ever seen live.

Another one is "Cherub Rock" by Smashing Pumpkins. Saw them at a smaller ballrom back in 1994 when they were just starting to get huge  and selling out arenas. This show ws booked and sold out for months so they had to play it. We were sitting in the few seats there were upstairs, watching the crowd below. I have never seen such a tital wave of absoulte frenzy en mass as when that song began. 3500 people literally body-surfing over one-another in a huge wave. I thought the walls were going to crumble they played so loud!!

I thought of another one that sends chills down my spine.  But it shows how sappy I can be

I actually get choked up EVERY TIME I hear Tim McGraw's "Don't Take The Girl".  EVERY TIME!

It's an excellent (and very sad) story song.

I agree with you on that one Jeremy, but lots of country songs do that to me... Concrete Angel (don't watch the video - Niagara Falls...) and the one about everything in the world today and how it makes him think of his eight year old daughter, can't recall the name.

The only song that means anytmhing to me personally is Dreamweaver - but I'm not in the mode to spin a sad tale.

I have 3 that immediately came to my mind when I read the thread.

1 - Against All Odds by Phil Collins - reminds me of my high school sweetheart.  I left for basic training in the Air Force and she was just entering her senior year in high school and her parents basically forced her to break up with me.

2 - Love Me by Colin Raye - Reminds me of my grandparents who were married 59 years and died 1 month apart from each other.  They had 12 kids and held hands when in the store, etc until the very end.  Now that is love...

3 - Angels Among Us by Alabama - This song makes me cry everytime I hear it.  My dad loved this song and we played it at his funeral.  I have chills now just writing this.

Another one of my favorite songs to remind me of the past is:  19 Something by Mark Wills

Another REM song for me- Perfect Circle. Girl involved, her favorite song that I didn't know, by a band I claimed as my favorite at the time.

I'd have to say 2 songs do that to me:

1) Skin by Rascall Flatts, about a teenage girl with cancer.  ugh...makes me cry everytime in the car.

2) "Somewhere over the Rainbow" by a Hawaiian singer whose name is so so long.  The song is featured in a lot of commercials and was played during Dr. Greene's death scene in ER.  That song was my aunt's favorite before she passed away in October, and it always reminds me of her.

I know they're kind of old songs but it seems like everytime I turn on the radio House of the Rising Sun by the Animals or Sounds of Silence by Simon and Garfunkle are always playing. Kind of Haunting.

I am with Sparky on those songs. Guess I didn't realize it until now, but both those songs have that sort of timeless erie appeal!

"All at Once" by Whitney Houston brings back good memories for me.  I remember being about 12 in the car on the way to go pick up my sister and I was singing it and my dad said "You have a really beautiful voice."  It was something so simple, but it made me feel 10 feet tall and bulletproof.  Every time I hear that song, I remember that day and that feeling.

There are a ton of country songs that can make me cry in an instant.  "Butterfly Kisses" will make me sob like crazy.  I was so glad that song was not out when I got married.  I would have had to play it for my dance with my dad, but I would have bawled and bawled and ruined my makeup.  There was enough water that day.  I got married during the flood of 93.  What fun.

"If Tomorrow Never Comes" is me and my husband's song.  I hear that song and I get chills.  We live by that song.

There are so many Bon Jovi songs that do that for me.  When I moved from Germany to the states, I had a friend that would send me letters and he would say something like "This week when you hear (whatever song, usually a Bon Jovi song), I'm thinking about you."  You just don't forget things like that.

I had to give this one some thought...

But I just heard it.

"What Might Have Been" by Little Texas.  That song and "There is Always Something to Remind Me" reminds me of my old high school boyfriend.

And "Shower Me With Your Love" by Surface.  That is one song I don't see on the request list!
