I have been there once and man was it a blast. Without a doubt you need to hit PAT O'BRIANS for a hurricane. They are the originators of the toxic drink. 

If you can get in you should check out the The  Preservation Hall. It's a swanky, dark, old time Blues/jazz hall. This is where you can get a real taste of some  Naw'lins flavor.

My wife and I went to the river boat for some gambling action and lost our ass in about 20 minutes, when we were ready to leave we found ourselves out in the middle of the Mississippi river. We didn't realize the boat actually left the dock. So needless to say we hit the ATM only to lose more cash. So if you plan on doing any gambling on the boat, don't plan on leaving real soon. We were on the boat at night so we couldn't see much. It might be a pretty cool boat trip in the daytime ?

If you plan on leaving Bourbon street or the French Quarter in the wee hours of the night, be careful. I would recomend taking a cab or a gun. No it's not that bad but you should be careful.
