I mean, downtown Cedar Rapids is almost a total loss! Anything on the first floor of any building is shot. Not to mention structural damage that may have been done.
I have noticed though a LOT of people had no flood insurance and will just be out of luck
Yep, we're all gonna pay for this in an increase in our rates.
We don't have flood insurance. We've never experienced flooding like this even though the Saginaw River runs right through the city. We're up on pretty high ground though; there are areas on the East side of town that flood every Spring when the snow melts further north and all those tributaries merge into the river.
