He was BY FAR my favorite political reporter. A real throw-back. Very fair, would go after anyone hard regardless of whether they were Republican or Democrat, and yet a very nice guy too.

He had such a high regard for his Dad, and was so concerned about bringing his son up right. It really makes me sad to know I won't see him on Sunday mornings anymore. hmm.gif

58 years old and I'm sure he had the best health care.  Still struck down by a massive heart attack.

It just sucks.

He really knew his s**t! Plus he presented it in a fashion that the regulkar person could understand. Wow, wonder whats gonna happen with Meet the Press now....any guesses? I say David Gregory might be in line. Either way...who is gonna use the chalkboard to tell me how many different variations there are for the Electoral College on election night????

I could totally see David Gregory getting it, but I hope he doesn't.

One of the things I liked about Russert is you never really knew where he stood. I think he was extremely unbiased.

David Gregory is very clearly liberal and would probably put a liberal bias on the show.

I think Meet the Press needs to be unbiased. I wouldn't want an obvious conservative heading it up either.

Tim Russert the person will be hard to replace.  Even when he asked the tough questions I think his guests knew it wasn't personal.  Those questions needed to be asked.  Like Riggs, this man was my favorite political correspondent.  He was a  man who loved his faith, his family and his country and was a voice of fairness.

Meet the press has been on since 1949 and although our country and our politics have changed, I hope they realize that why the show continued to be relevant was the fact there was not a clear cut bias.

Our country seems pretty evenly split right now.  Half Democrat, half Republican.  Half liberal, half conservative.  So the show needs to continue to serve both camps by remaining impartial.

While I wasn't a regular watcher of that show (I prefer late night CNM-FOX shows), I'll miss his friendly face. I always thought he was of high integrity, unlike many other reporters out there.

The sad thing is, the lines between journalism and entertainment seem to have blurred.  With Russert, he maintained Journalistic integrity probably because of personal integrity.

Saw a special on him this weekend, very heartbreaking.

But he never put is profession or job before his family..... his family came first. That's good at least he didn't die w/ any regrets that he didn't spend time w/ his family and was at work!
