no I am safely (one would hope) here at work. I do know some people who are part of the victory over violence campaign down there tho. I hope they are safe. I think they were getting out by 2 pm tho, usually before that ruckus occurs.

I just read on JS Online that a bunch of politicians are down there today. It's an election year so they'd prefer nobody die hmm.gif

I wonder if they're celebrating it here. I would imagine they do everywhere. I best stay in myself.

Seems like when they celebrate the end of slavery they like to beat on white folk ashamed.gif

the drinking of 40 oz malt liquor beginning at 9 am really helps nothing either.hmm

I probably mentioned this, but 1 year I was taking a summer class at UWM, totally did not know this was going on & that the road was blocked. I had to detour down a long stretch of a side streets. I thought I was gonna get killed with these turkey jive mofos mean muggin at me with their OE 40s at like 9 am. the ONLY reason I got out, & I didn't realize this until I was about to turn back onto a main road was that there was an unmarked squad car that followed me out with 2 cops in it.

silly white boy. no.gif

Every year on June 19'th the city of Milwaukee has a JUNETEENTH party to celebrate the end of slavery.

It usually results in someone being dragged from their car and beaten, or people being shot.

More often than not police in riot gear signal the end of the festivities.

That's pretty sad.

Yeah, I know.

I hate to say it, but when you give the thugs in our inner city a reason to get together and drink, you're asking for trouble.

It's politically incorrect to try to avoid it by limiting the activities apparently, but year after year after year it ends pretty much the same way.

Well now, it's not all that bad. The celebration occurs in one neighborhood of Milwaukee, and while there's been some bad stuff going down, I wouldn't say it's all that abnormal for the neighborhood in which the event occurs. It's sad that the pigment-challenged can't go there and feel safe, true. But the event isn't without merit or benefit to the community.
