Finally, it's Friday

Well, I believe that most of us have had a long week. We have survived and we all can agree that it is finally Friday.

Peace, love and happiness to all.

Since Fuzzy and I posted a Friday thread at the same time, I moved mine here.

We're heading up to the cabin this morning for the weekend.  We were supposed to leave yesterday, but when my husband got home from work he was too tired to drive up.  Anyway, I've got the truck packed up and am waiting for him and my girls to wake up so we can get on the road.  Hope all of you have a good day and more importantly, a great weekend!! smile

Wonderful Friday.... It has started out w/ some excitement today.

This article was in our local newspaper this morning, and the reason I am sharing it is because it makes me very happy!!! It's my boyfriends' EX wife's restaurant that she and her parents own!! She has been unemployed a week, and looks like she is in big trouble! Or at least her parent's are!! rofl.gif

PLAINVILLE - The sign on the door of Fitzy's Pub says "Closed for Vacation," but the filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Boston tells another story.

The popular Plainville restaurant is up to the rafters in debt, and owes $662,036 in federal and state taxes and another $31,000 to the state Lottery Commission.

The Internal Revenue Service, state Department of Revenue and the Lottery Commission topped a list of 20 creditors filed by Fitz Company President and Secretary William F. Fitzpatrick Jr. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on May 14.

In the filing, the Fitz Company estimated its liabilities at $500,001 to $1 million and its assets at zero to $50,000.

A meeting of creditors was held Thursday in the Boston office of the U.S. trustee, a court spokesman said. The U.S. trustee is the component of the Justice Department that oversees the administration of bankruptcy cases and private trustees.

Fitz Company attorney Stephen Shamban of Braintree did not return calls for comment. Fitzy's Pub, at 1 Man Mar Drive, off Route 152 closed last week.

Two handwritten signs on the doors said the eatery was "Closed for Vacation." Customers wishing to redeem coupons from Fitzy's Pub were directed to Jenerations Bar and Grill, another restaurant owned by relatives in North Attleboro.

Taxes owed to the state Department of Revenue totaled $348,000. The IRS is owed $314,036.

Unpaid meals taxes dating to 2002 represent most of the debt to the Department of Revenue, agency spokesman Robert Bliss said. Corporate and employee withholding taxes also are owed.

"How much of that we'll be able to recoup will depend on how much of the assets the (bankruptcy) trustee will be able to liquidate," Bliss said.

IRS spokeswoman Peggy Riley said federal privacy regulations prevented her from commenting on the case.

The state lottery figure represents proceeds from lottery product sales for which Fitzy's had contracted, said Jill Butterworth, spokeswoman for Attorney General Martha Coakley.

Among other prominent creditors are: New England Gas, $9,066; National Grid, $8,518; the Plainville Water Department, $3,460; and Capital One, $6,892.

Hello all. Well I'm not sure if you will believe this but something else is wrong at the apt! Now the garbage disposal broke. It was the 1st time my husband tried to use it. They have the switch positioned like it is the light to the pantry. Everytime someone accidentally turned it on it worked, just not when it was supposed to. hmm

Saturday the drywaller is coming and we are going to see the Vietnam Moving Wall and then we have a grad party. Sunday my husband has some guy work to do to prepare for hunting season. Tonight we may head over to Perani Arena for the big Super Sale. I don't know where we will get money to spend but the deals are awesome!

Darlene - you have to love when stupid people get into trouble for not paying their taxes. I wonder what makes some people thing they don't have to pay them. Since they seem not to have any money, their assets will mainly be the machinery and equipment.

Hey Woo. After the fix the disposal and it is in working condition, tape that switch down so no one can accidentally turn it on. I know it seems sill, but it should help.

All of them, my BF's told me are gamblers... They play $100 or more a day in KENO, which is probably why they are in trouble.....

The only thing that is not good is she'll probably go after my BF now for more in child support since she is not getting any money from working there anymore. hmm.gif

But it's just sweet to me, this woman has rubbed me the wrong way the day I became involved w/ my BF!! To me this is a nice sweet revenge, and I am not even involved!!

Ah, gambling with the government's money. They don't like that. I am not sure she can go after him for more child support just because she has no income. That would suck if she can. Because you know it will not go to support the child, as the funds get diverted. That would be an interesting ruling if it were to go before a judge. Nonetheless, I do not know much about the subject and should just shut up and butt out. ashamed

She can go after him for more child support if he's bringing more money home now than when the last decision was made. In Indiana, you also have to wait a year (I think) between rulings.

Even if the girl was to come live with us, Mom would not have to pay child support because it was written in the divorce papers. no.gif

But Woo, does he pay support now? If he did, and she lived with you, I believe you can apply to have that changed. But I know parents that have held onto the kids simply because there was money coming in the door and they didn't take care of the kids the way they were supposed to. I think that sucks.

Yeah he pays support. He got racked with his divorce. He just wanted it done and gave into everything. We never get to claim her on taxes either. He also paid a bunch of money from the moment he left the house before the divorce was done and because he didn't listen to advice, always paid cash, and had no proof. She of course claimed that he didn't pay anything. She was very bitter in the beginning.

Just reaffirms one of my theories of why marriage is no good. There is no point if all you are going to do is get hurt and have problems later. And I think it is harder for everyone when there are children involved.

I had that outlook on marriage too. I would preach that I was NEVER getting married! I was surrounded by divorce. My Mom has been married 3x, my sis now 3x, my Dad 2x, etc. I would say "what's the point? The 1st one never works." It wasn't until I started seeing my now husband that my outlook changed. I guess it was just right.

I guess it happens for some people.

On a better note, I have tickets to the baseball game tomorrow. The Angels are in town for the weekend. Go Phillies! The need to recover after losing two of three to Boston earlier in the week.

i forgot to mention this in my daily rant:
We had a mouse in the apt last night! It was very brave and did not care that we were still up and the lights were on. So my husband had to take care of it after he got it trapped in my bathroom. Problem is we don't know if the mouse was here of if it traveled with us because we would get mice in the old garage. hmm

I was the same way until I met my husband.  We even plan out what we'd do in case something happens (like if we start hating each other's guts), like who'd keep the apartment, who'd have the cats, etc.  We figure that it's better to plan that stuff out now.  And because we can do that, I do think we will be together forever.

Howdy.

I didn't know which of the Friday threads to use so since this one was the biggest, I'll post here.

I'm pretty stiff and sore today, but not as bad as I thought I might be.

I had to hang around the house this morning because the city needed in to install a new water meter. Its the kind that has a transmitter so they can read it from the street and don't have to walk the neighborhoods any more.

It took the guy about an hour to install the meter. He is a guy I went to school with so after the meter change, we stood in the yard and talked for about another hour.

After that, I came out to the shop and rode the mower around for a while. Got that chore done again.

After that, I had to go to the church and print some music for Sunday.

Then I ate lunch.

While eating lunch, I looked at the gas bills. We've still not gotten that promised credit. I looked at my mother-in-laws statement and hers is now screwed up too. Hers is on auto draft from her checking. The bank statement shows it was taken out on June 4th. The gas statement does not show the credit. I called and their system does not show the credit. One good thing is that after this generation, things should get better because I don't think these people are smart enough to spawn (to use a JD word) and spread their genes.

I spent another hour on the phone with those morons. More promises that it will be fixed and that the credits will show in a couple days. I don't even have hope this time. Right now, I fully expect to have to call again so they can lie to me some more next time.
