OWNER VOTE RESULTS

I asked in the last quarterly report for the owners opinions on whether or not we she try to do any small time advertising with the small surplus we're running in our budget.

the vote was as follows:

7  YES
2  NO
2  NOT SURE
7  DID NOT REPLY

So the official answer is yes, we will try doing some small advertising.

I should point out I've already donated about $25 this month to do some Google advertising, but it hasn't really paid off at all.

So far my $25 Google budget is about 40% used, and has gotten nearly 200 new hits to our web site, but no real noticible uptick in listeners and obviously no new forum members.

I'm going to try changing the home page temporarily to offer new listeners a week or two of free ownership privelidges and see if that brings in one or two.

So, now we all need to think about what the best way to advertise on a teeny tiny budget is, and how to proceed.

Any thoughts?

let me think about it.....would it be worth it to advertise at a music venue? I think FFR attracts true music lovers. Where else do music lovers congregate?

Does anyone know of any charity concerts that are happening in your area? That would hit the music crowd and likely be affordable.

Yeah. Like I said in the email, if somebody has something locally they'd like to try advertising at, we could send them the money.

I remember in Milwaukee once or twice a year Serb Hall had music collector shows. That's the type of place I SHOULD have gone and handed out fliers. Or even just asked a few of the vendors if they'd hand out fliers.

It's tough when you're operating on a microscopic budget, but fliers are always a cheap way to go.

Personally, I just can't believe how hard it is to get someone to just click LISTEN LIVE. no.gif

I was hoping the google advertising I'm doing this month would bring in one or two new die-hard listeners. So far no luck though.

If I remember correctly, I think that's how we hooked Woo Hoo, was through Google advertising.

I think when the station started out, the market wasn't nearly as saturated with internet radio stations. It was novel & new & now they are everywhere.

Yeah, I'm really surprised the Google advertising didn't do anything.

 That's very true.

Also, the thing that REALLY makes us special is the huge library of music we have, which I still say I've never seen anyone who comes close to us.

BUT, now that we're listener-owned, does that really matter?  If you can't request the music does anyone care how much you have to choose from?

Still Though, if you're a hard-core music fan, you'd have to love our variety and depth.

I don't know.  I just keep thinking there's 200 million adults in this country, how hard can it be to get 100 of them to listen to FFR?

Here's a thought.....

Many music venues have placemats (ie: House of Blues) for their restaurants and/or programs that are given out to attendees......if a place like that (which attracts a large audience from areas far and wide) could be located maybe buying an ad in a situation like that would work....

that's true. I've been to a lot of places that have advertising on their placemats and stuff like that.

Something to look into.

What about this....get a rubber stamp with the FFR website and start stamping all of your money?

Free advertising! and within a couple of weeks millions in cash floating around the country with the website information on it.

THAT'S GENIUS!

Actually, we could ALL start doing that now. Just writing it on the money!

THAT'S GENIUS!!!!!

YOU'RE A FRIGGIN' GENIUS!!!!!

IF YOU WERE HERE RIGHT NOW I'D KISS YOU SMACK ON THE MOUTH! (Not really, but since you're not here it seems safe to say that to illustrate my point of how overjoyed I am with this GENIUS idea!!!!)

The money is always out there, going round and round and round!

And if you don't want to write out the whole thing, we've also got an alternate address of tune2us.com Nice n' short!

THIS IS GENIUS!!!!

I could even do a dollar tracking portion of the website. SO people could tell us where they got their dollar and we could see where we've been traveling to!

Awww, I checked the closet and the only award we have available is this one...

logo_crappyawards.jpg

Ray's idea deserves better than that hmm.gif  We'll just have to give him the "Big ol' pat on the back" award.

What a GREAT idea, and it costs us NOTHING!

I may not be an owner, but with Ray's idea at least I can help.

Maybe I can go to Vistaprint and get a stamp the next time they are running a special. That way the lazy part of me wins and it becomes even easier.

Yeah, I'll check Vista print for stamps too.

It's not lazy, it just makes sense.  if you have to write it all the time eventually you'll stop doing it.  If there's a stamper on your desk it's a reminder to stamp any fresh bills you might have that day.

My free stamper is on it's way!!!

Not really free as shipping and handling is a whopping $5.95, but still not a bad price.

Oh, if anyone else gets a stamper from Vista Print make sure you do it through MyPoints. You get 300 points that way.

I think I will get both domain names. Switch it up a bit. $6 for a stamp isn't bad.
