Ouch, my towns economy takes a hit!

They just announced that Stanley furniture will consolidate it's Lexington facility into it's Robbinsville facility.

That means 300 people in Lexington lose their jobs.  I have to think that's huge around here.  The company is walking distance from my house, about a quarter mile away.  hmm.gif  It's really the only big factory style company I've seen around here.

I fear these consolodations and downsizing will undermine business operations once things turn around. Resources will be over-stretched then, customers will be pissed about things like back-orders, out of stock, broken agreements & contracts & then people will look elsewhere for products because these businesses will be perceived as incompetent and unreliable.

No doubt. I'm really shocked. They were hiring quite a few positions for this company. Now I imagine it will just be a huge empty building for years and years to come hmm.gif

That does seem huge, comsidering that a lot of furniture is manufactured in NC.
