I'm at work. the things I shove off because I get interrupted seem to get done on saturday mornings instead.

Yesterday I replaced the broadcast computer with a shiny new system. It's the most powerful computer I've ever owned yet it's 1/4'th the size of the other CPUs and was about 1/3'rd the cost. Ain't technology wonderful?

I'm thinking this is going to fix most of our problems when combined with the software upgrade we just got.

So far I notice no skipping at the start of songs, no pausing of the system whatsoever and I'm keeping my fingers crossed this is the end of the corrupted file issue.

I readded the BLUR songs, played SONG 2 which I know had a problem in the past and it seemed to play fine. WOO HOO!

Now my house is littered with cables, monitors and CPUS as I'm consolidating down from four computers to two. The two oldes will be torn apart for parts and thrown away. I got a busy weekend ahead of me.

thanks. I did just notice that the bumper was screwed up. That's because of the old system yet though. I noticed awhile ago that for some reason they had all been shortened. Another item to add to the to do list

Howdy.

I walked down to the pharmacy this morning. What a beautiful morning. Its a cool 60 degrees and overcast. It was a very nice morning for a walk.

Mrs Web is over at her mom's house working. Her brother and family are meeting her there tomorrow to divide up more stuff - mainly kitchen items and trinkets. Her mom loved trinkets.

I tried to start my normal Saturday server stuff, but my backup service is broken. Its giving me disk full errors. I'm only using about 60% of what I pay for, their entire system is full. Hopefully that gets fixed soon so I can get moving on what I need to do there.

I ordered a couple DVDs that came yesterday. They are put out by Paul Baloche who is one of the top current praise and worship song writers and leaders. Both DVDs are really good.

One is called "Worship Band Workshop". I'm going to pass that one around our team as I think there are some really good ideas that we all need to consider. The very first thing he talks about is something I think we need to work on, and that is keeping your instrument in your own music space. Mrs Web watched it with me last night and even she was interested in the info and thought it was really good.

The other DVD is "Music Theory Made Easy". At first, I thought it was going to be "too easy" because it started with what is a 1/2 step, what is a whole step, etc. VERY beginning stuff. Then later, it really gets into chords and "do this to make a 7 chord", "do this to make an augmented chord", etc. which is what I was hoping for. Just watching it the first time, I finally get inversions and what they are and why I play the notes I play. They also recommend the Nashville Number system which is what I use now. I always thought that was a bit of a "hack" way to play, but it works for me so I go with it. They interviewed a few top current bands and they are using that same system now so I feel a little better about it now too.

Wow, I'm glad I have my faster internet today. I bought an upgrade to my "Band in a Box" software and the download is HUGE. They replace the MIDI with real recordings of instruments. Very cool, but very huge! Almost 5 gigs of data just in this update. I've got about an hour of downloading to go.

Its really cool though. Maybe I'll post some samples when I get to actually play with it.
