UNDERGROUND 80s UPDATE

Riggs-

Over the next couple of days I have to get on and totally revamp the Underground 80s page. I want to thank you for covering for me this past Sunday night. I went to go see Tommy Stinson, formerly of The Replacements. Phenomenal acoustic show- maybe some of the regulars remember some Replacements 80's Underground hits "I"ll Be You", "Achin To Be"? But anyways after the show I got my autograph and put in a plug for Freeze Frame Radio, gave him the web address, told him of the hundreds of listeners tuning in daily, and asked him if it'd be ok to link up his site to ours- He was ENTHUSIASTIC about it!! Said he would definately check it out, as far as he was concerned we could do anything with his stuff. His new album is hailed as "a stunning achievement" by Rolling Stone Magazine. It is an honor to have him interested in the station! He and Paul Westerberg made some of the best college radio music of the 80's!

This reminded me as well, when I met Pat Dinezio of The Smithereens, he gave a thumbs up to a link as well to both his solo site and The Smithereens site and had said "Hey you could very well be the future of radio, glad you want me." What a complement!!!

Also, I did not get her name, but the opening act for Tommy Stinson was a local female artist who was brilliant!! She did not say her name, her name was not on the ticket, but I gave her a card as well. She is working on releasing a demo cd and setting up a website, and has the station info, so if a cd arrives at the station that we are not expecting, it will probably be her- anyone who loves the Heather Sullivan stuff will LOVE THIS PERSON!! I didn't have a chance to get her name, there were simply too many people wanting to meet her!

So anyways, between all this, and the new artists sending stuff for jazz 101 I totally gots to update my pages man! woohoo onwards and upwards!

aaaaaaaaaah, so it was a working trip downtown huh?

Here I had been telling the audience you were attending the National Spatula Convention, I feel so foolish now

Way to spread the word about the station around man!
