YAY... happy to be back. Freaking firewall... they block the weirdest things. This makes for an even better day. I'm working from home today and back on the forum. That's right... bunny slippers and satelite TV! Every work day should be so relaxed.

It's a nice perk. I guess the corporate overlords decided that they could take a crack at improving employee satisfaction/retention and help the environment on the cheap by letting us work from home one day a week. In my group, all that means is we are pretty much guaranteed to be able to work from home one day without anyone asking why. Some of us work midnight hours every now and again, so we are always allowed to work from home the next day if we want to and our schedules don't require office participation. And as much as I hate to admit it, it really does make it a little more tollerable going to the office when you know you get a break once a week.

I could work from home. The program would just have to be set up on computer and linked to the server but the papers I need our confidential and others use them so they probably wouldn't like it. cry

I finally went mental and said something to him about it, so he decided to let me haul out the tweezers and fix the issue. I guess his wife was bagging on him about it too. All my confidentials are loaded on my company issued laptop that is required to go home with me every night anyway. We got all kinds of crazy firewall stuff to deal with too... hence why I have not been on the forum for quite a while. It's so weird... they broadcast the exectuive level all hands meetings on IPTV, but I can't get the broadcasts on my network cuz they are firewalled out.

When I attempted to go home early on Monday, they ended up calling me at home needing help with something. I got it done, even while on the verge of napping. The only thing keeping me from working from home is having to answer the phone.

That is the bummer of it... still gotta answer the phone. Not that I actually answer my desk phone. In fact, the voicemail on my desk phone hasn't worked in months. I know this, yet feel oddly not compelled to report it. As I pointed out to the last guy who fussed about it to me... that merely encourages people to leave me messages. God made e-mail for a reason... so you take it less personally when you are ignored.

HEHEHEHE... Yep... Doin' the time warp! If it's all the same, I'll stick with 2008. The last 2 years haven't been all that much fun so I don't want to relive them.

On the up side, Pambo is doing somewhat better with the nerve pains, we are both still employed, and the grandkids are all getting bigger. Miah and Walker start kindergarten this year! OMG!! They are so big now. Marshall is almost 3. It took him forever to decide to start talking, but now he has TONS to say. In the span of a week (spent away from his sister), he went from a few words to full sentences.
