I'm sitting here thinking about going home to do the Weird Newz, and for some reason, I'm dreading it. I've already got it written, I just need to record it.I have no excuse, I have no plans for tonight. But I just don't feel like it.
Does that make any sense?
Anyone have any encouraging words to talk me into doing it?

"It is said an Eastern monarch once charged his wise men to invent him a sentence to be ever in view, and which should be true and appropriate in all times and situations. They presented him the words: "And this, too, shall pass away."" ~ Abraham Lincoln spacer gif Anonymous Encouragement Quote:
"When you feel like giving up, remember why you held on for so long in the first place." ~ Unknown spacer gif spacer gif Anonymous Encouragement Words:

"When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us." ~ Alexander Graham Bell spacer gif William James Encouragement Words:

"It doesn't matter how many say it cannot be done or how many people have tried it before; it's important to realize that whatever you're doing, it's your first attempt at it." ~ Wally Amos spacer gif Richard Bach Encouragement Quote:
"What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly." ~ Richard Bach
Anonymous Encouragement Poem:
"When things go wrong as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all up hill, When the funds are low and the debts are high And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest if you must, but don't you quit. Life is queer with its twists and turns, As every one of us sometimes learns, And many a failure turns about When he might have won had he stuck it out; Don't give up though the pace seems slow-- You may succeed with another blow, Success is failure turned inside out-- The silver tint of the clouds of doubt, And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems so far; So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit-- It's when things seem worst that you must not quit." ~ Unknown spacer gif Japanese Proverb Encouragement Words:
"Fall seven times, stand up eight." ~ Japanese Proverb spacer gif Flavia Weedn Encouragement Quote:
"If one dream should fall and break into a thousand pieces, never be afraid to pick one of those pieces up and begin again. " ~ Flavia Weedn

"The world is round and the place which may seem like the end may also be only the beginning. " ~ Ivy Baker Priest spacer gif Winston Churchill Encouragement Quote:
"When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hang on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn. " ~ Harriet Beecher Stowe spacer gif Hugh Miller Encouragement Quote:
"Problems are only opportunities with thorns on them." ~ Hugh Miller spacer gif inspirational quote greeting card Buy From QuoteArts.com "Show me a day when the world wasn't new."

"I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!" ~ Dr. Seuss spacer gif Col. Harland Sanders Encouraging Quote:
"One has to remember that every failure can be a stepping stone to something better." ~ Col. Harland Sanders spacer gif
I don't think this is going to be encouraging, but doing the Weird Newz should be fun. If you're dreading it I'd say don't do it. Hopefully it's just this one time. But if you start feeling like it's something you don't want to do on a regular basis it might be time to pull the plug.
A while back the station started feeling like an unpaid job to me. Too many people wanting music added. Too many software problems. Too many technical problems. So on and so on. That's what I realized I needed to simplify the whole thing and take a more laid back approach (listener ownership came out of that).
In the end this is a hobby. It's got to be fun or it just isn't worth it MZ.
Take a week off if you want, use this weeks for next week.
Really, I don't have anything. I understand the mood completely though. I am no help since I don't even have the opportunity to listen to your reports.

Actually, I didn't do it last week because I slept the night away after poisoning myself with corn starch. The week before that, I didn't do it because it was my birthday.
I'm still tending to side with JR here, maybe I'll just take a break from it for a while.
There's been a couple of summers where I didn't due live shows on sunday nights to take a break. I came back in September fired up to do it again. Now because I do them from home, I treat it as a break from the rest of the world, "MY time".

I imagine you're suffering a bit from what JD & I have suffered from many times in the past.
Is it worth it? Does anyone listen?
We used to broadcast to over 100 people. I'll confess, I just can't get my enthusiasm up to broadcast to 12 people. It's just not there. I'd love to get on the air every day, but it almost feels foolish. Like I'm just talking to my friends.

I miss having an audience
Yeah, that might be part of it. But sometimes I wonder if I'm really doing it for only a few people.
How about this....think of the poor children in Africa sitting there with only the earphones on there heads just waiting to hear the Weird Newz so they can lay their little heads on the bamboo pillows they share with their 9 brothers and sisters. Do it.....do it for them....

That was touching Spark. I needed to grab my hanky. I don't have a hanky so I just wiped my eyes with my t-shirt, but still... touching. just touching.
I've gotten past that I think. I just am doing what I would be doing anyhow on most sunday nights- chillin out, havin a few drinks, cranking tunes. the fact that I can air that on the internet is still pretty cool and fun.

it makes me think of how many times I'd gone out on a sunday night to like see a band at a club, and there was like 7 people there. these guys had to haul their equiptment in, sound check, practice, play for 2 hours, just to end up makin like $4 each and get scant applause.....at least I'm not hauling equiptment around to play to no one....

Find me a kid in Africa listening to the Weird Newz and I'd do it in an instant.
I still think it's cool. I always wish I could get the energy to put together a show. Even if nobody listened... I'd suck at the whole forum thing. JD is pretty good at responding to emails and banter on the forum during his live shows. I have been considering a nineties rock show. I also will no longer be an owner starting on the first day of August. I've been paying the quarterly amount I think. The real plan might be to go one time per year. I hated the stupid paypal notice every three months. I would continue only because JD enjoys his time as a DeeJay. Him and Riggs have done a lot in the few years on the web. People could learn something from them. There are just so many "stations" out there. Think, what can FFR do? I'll print a pile of ****ty shirts for everybody around here. Bumper sticker in the window. I have two stations already.
