Remember the good old days when they did something novel...likek show videos?

Video killed the radio star, but reality tv killed MTV.

I've been thinking about that, and the first, what 15?, years of my life, MTV was my main source of music. (We rarely watched anything other than MTV.) So I could request just about anything from that time period and say it was influenced by MTV.

Instead, I think I'm going to request some songs that I really liked their videos. That's what would stick out to me.

I watched Friday Night Videos too. I especially liked when they had musicians as guest hosts.

This is the first huge budget Russell Mulcahey video I remember. At this point, he was getting big and videos in general were getting really popular. And I guess the record company really wanted to push Duran Duran. It worked alright!

In college, I did my homework to mtv. I loved Martha. You can catch her today on Sirius satellite radio, channel 8.

Thay all do on channel 8. Mark Goodman in the morning, Martha Quinn does count downs, Nina Blackwood is on during the day and Alan Hunter is on at night.
It's awesome when I'm driving.

I watched Prince's "Raspberry Beret" every hour on the hour for about 18 straight showings.

The Bangles "Manic Monday" was another one.

And lots and lots of Michael Jackson stuff from THRILLER

I remember one time when my mom was at work and her boyfriend (who I hated) was watching me and took me over to his friend's house with him. His friend kept trying to get my attention, but I was ignoring him because Walk Like An Egyptian was on MTV.
