Hot Sunday

Good mornin'.

Our forecast for today is 102. I saw it get to 105 at one point yesterday. Not cool . . . literally. Its supposed to cool down the middle of this week.

I'm off bass duty today. I don't know what to do with myself. I feel a little lost. I still need to be there by 9:30 though. Our worship leader and I are going through a "Discipleship" series of workbooks together that has been really good for us.

I guess thats all I have for now. Hope you have a good morning!

Oh, yeah . . . we watched "3:10 To Yuma" last night.

Over all I thought it was good and I enjoyed it, but it felt like it was dragging a little. It could have been about an hour shorter (2.5 hrs).

hey I liked that film too!
allo nerd.gif there is a little croation church not far from here, and they are having their festival today. Its close enough to walk to, so we'll head down there.

I have no idea what kind of food they may have. I'll report back. maybe stuff like goose dumplings or goose soup or goose burgers?

Live shows tonight if you need some radio to chill out to....wink.gif

Good day all.

Man, I'm beat. We went to my cousin's wedding yesterday up in N. Indiana. I don't really know her that well, she's really a step cousin. But her stepdad is my uncle who was like a 2nd dad to me growing up, so I went for him. I also saw my great aunts there that I haven't seen for years. So long in fact that they didn't recognize me until I introduced myself. We sat in the pew with them and then at the reception with them, and I think they were happy to have us there. It was a very traditional wedding. I usually do good at weddings, but if the bride or groom start to tear up, I have to keep myself from tearing up too, and they both were teary eyed a few times.

Last night we stayed in my mom's pop up trailer in their yard (gives us a little more privacy and a better bed than staying in the house). But it got cold in the middle of the night, combined with not being our own bed, and having different sounds, that I didn't sleep well.

So we just got home after a 4 hour drive. I want a nap.

the croation fest was so so fun!
the food servings consisted of croation sausage served with bread, a pile of raw onions, a pickle and a bag of chips. there was another sausage dish as well, I think its called Civichichi or something? really good. oh it was that that came with the bread and onions. there was also croation beer sold in bottles too. I forget its name, but it was really really medicore. The Frankie Yankovic band was there to play polka. they even have a banjo player, and had a bandstand there that Frankie used in 1947. I played this game called turkey roll and won a nice prize.

oh and some little nun at a stand convinced me to buy a $3 "macho" pen. big strong men like me deserve to treat themselves to a big solid good old fashioned pen, was what she said.
Yea, I know...hey?smile.gif

she had like 3 pens, 4 key chains (I think one was charlies angels) and 3 grease stained cook books for sale. I was sooo sooo game. I said "I think that macho pen is not only worth $3, but $3 and a bag of chips." (left over from said croation sausage meal.) oh did her eyes of joy light up. she must have been 85 yrs old. and let me tell you the bonus gift of potato chips made her day.

how bout that??smile.gif

I think the sausage is called Cevapcici, and might the beer be Karlovacko? smile

Well now, I started a thread that tells a little about Croatia. It sounds like fun, but I'm a bit leary about "donkey music." It sounds like College Daze material. nod.gif
