Saturday I went to Sturgis to visit my folks, while there my Mom received a package from my Grandma. Inside was a small white vase with a pink rose. We didn't think much of it other than my Mom collects depression glass and such. She looked it up in her book and it was circa 1860's. My mom sent me this e-mail.
We got a letter from Grandma explaining the little vase she sent the other day. When your Dad was in grade school he and some of his cousins were playing in the back bedroom of his grandparents house and he found the vase back inside a wall in that room. She said she doesn't know how he got into that little space to find it but he came a' runnin' - all excited to show her what he'd found. She said she's treasured it all of these years and now wants us to treasure it. She also said that she will have to go to Canton, OK to box and ship Grandpa's guitar to you- she said it may be several days before she can do that but will ship it as soon as she can.
I wonder why that vase was behind a wall? What did it mean to someone to hide it like that? What journey had it been through up until then?
