Ok. Last Favre post of the day from me I promise. I know 90% of the forum don't give a crap about the Packers. I'm just using this as my place to vent.
For all their double speak about Favres commitment to play and other BS, the Packers brass knew his heart was in Green Bay. If they would have made it clear he'd be given a fair chance to win his job back I don't doubt he'd still be a Packer today.
Meanwhile, the press is recognizing what the Packers traded away for a conditional fourth round draft choice...
Steve Serby, New York Post
But Broadway Brett Favre gives the Jets the kind of arm, the kind of presence, the kind of credibility and the kind of hope that Joe Namath gave them 40 long years ago. He gives the Jets their biggest star since Namath, gives the Jets their best chance to overcome Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, makes them a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
Mike Lupica, New York Daily News
What Favre does is make the Jets a team to watch again, and that is enough for now.
Somehow, and against the odds, because these are the Jets, it worked out this way Wednesday night: He's 4 New York.
Warren Sapp, NFL Network Analyst
He is in the conversation with the greatest that ever played the game. Can he elevate his game when he goes to the Jets and put himself into playoff contention? Were going to see.
Judy Battista, New York Times
The appeal of Favre is obvious: he had a turn-back-the-clock season last year, leading the Packers to the National Football Conference championship game. His arrival likely makes the Jets a viable American Football Conference wild-card team. Even at 38, he is remarkably durable, having started 253 consecutive games.
Mike Vaccaro, New York Post
For too long, Jets fans have waited for something this bold, this exciting, this off-the-hook and over-the-top. Good for the Jets. Good for New York. And good for Favre.
Gary Myers, New York Daily News
It was a terrific move for the Jets, one they had to make."
Peter King, CNNSI.com They'll be the toast of the biggest city in the world for pulling off this deal, on the heels of spending $49.1 million this offseason on bonuses for four veterans expected to kick-start a 4-12 team.
And for Favre, he'll have to get used to life in New Jersey -- the Jets are moving their practice facility from Long Island to Florham Park, N.J. late this month -- and he'll have to get used to new teammates. "I like their receivers, [Laveranues] Coles and [Jerricho] Cotchery,'' he told me 11 days ago. "I think they've added a lot in free-agency. They're not a bad team.''
William C. Rhoden, The New York Times
Not only is Favre one of the greatest quarterbacks in N.F.L. history, he is one of the most exciting to watch. Excitement sells, and in light of what the Jets are about to do to their season-ticket holders, excitement is a valuable commodity.
Will he be good for the Jets as a team? Well see.
Rich Cimini, New York Daily News
The Jets have pulled off their greatest quarterback coup since luring Joe Namath to the AFL when he left Alabama in 1965.
Mark Cannizzaro, New York Post
It's a move that completely alters the face of the Jets franchise and immediately has a chance to make the 2008 season something special. The move gives the Jets their most iconic player since the days of Joe Namath.
Matt Williamson, ESPN.com
Brett Favre instantly gives the Jets a vertical passing game they've been lacking for years.
There is an awful lot to like about this trade from the Jets' perspective. New England is still the best team in the AFC East, but New York should make a very strong push for a wild-card spot with Favre at the helm.
A couple months ago I still liked the Packers. They're one of my favorite teams (after the Colts of course.) I really didn't care whether or not Favre was on the team.
Now I'm sick enough of this whole Favre debacle that I really don't have any interest in the Packers anymore.
I think Farve helps the team. No doubt. And seriously, they gave up next to nothing for him. The most they will probably give up is a second round pick. Good move on their part.

Is Manning gonna miss the first game of the year? I'm kind of hoping he does because he's racked up quite a few starts in a row. I don't want anyone challenging Favres record of straight starts
Hey now, you were on the Colts bandwagon the past couple years. I even have your seat saved.
Well, they were becoming my AFC team. But now I gotta replace em' with the Jets. I only got room for one team per league at a time. I already spend too much time reading about a billions papers online every day
1. I feel for you cheeseheads. You're sad once for retirement and then you're sad a second time for a trade. That sucks.
2. I guarantee that Peyton will start opening day. It's a stone-cold lock.
3. I got tickets to the Lucas Oil Stadium tour for next Saturday, August 16th, 10:00am. I can't use them. Morgan made varsity and will be playing soccer in Bloomington at the same time. Anyone want a couple of tickets let me know. I have a total of 8.
You guys built a retractable roof stadium just for the Colts? Or are they planning on other sports using it too?
Most markets have such a hard time getting a stadium built. Minnesota just had to settle for an open air stadium because they couldn't get the citizens to agree to chip in for a retractable roof one. And the Twins play 81 games a year there.
A football team only plays 10 games a year plus playoffs in their stadium. That a steep price to pay for 40 hours a year of football use.
Or did this Lucas Oil company pay for the whole thing?
Oh, there was a big debate over the funding for it. There was something about selling some condos to help with the funding (Ray probably knows more about that than I do), but not as many were sold as anticipated.
But, we've got the Superbowl in 2012, baby! That makes the fancy new stadium worth it!
Oh there has been a lot of moaning and bitching about this stadium. It will be a multiple use stadium. It is part of the convention center, which will double in size once the RCA Dome is blown up. It will bring in a lot of conventions that the city now loses because the existing convention space is too small.
NCAA finals will be played there, state high school finals will be played there, concerts...Kenny Chesney...Sept. 13th, Bands of America, Drum Corp International, plus added convention use with the Stadium
Oh yeah, we also have a small gig in February of 2012 called the Super Bowl.
It was built with public funds hundreds of millions and a few million in private funds.
But I believe it will only enhance the city's image.
