Monday Baseball Thread

Fuzzinator - I had a chance to watch some of the Phil's this weekend, it looked like things were going pretty well for you!  Seems like you're starting to get a grip on first place in the East!  clap.gif

Darlene - Sorry.

SG - Tampa Bay looks pretty darn hot!  8-2 their last ten.  I really thought they'd cool in the second half and it would be a three team dog fight, now I'm starting to be a true believer an thinking they may just walk away with it.  Great young pitching!

As for my Brew Crew, we ain't lost a game since the big dugout fight.  Five straight wins including back to back complete game shutouts from our aces Ben Sheets & CC Sabathia.

Last night it took a bunch of extra innings but a walk-off homer from Gabe Kapler kept the streak alive.  Today we go for the home sweep of the Washington Nationals.

I'm nervous about tomorrow though.  We fly out to San Diego, and while the Padres are a bad club I HATE Petco field.  The Brew Crew relies on homers, and Petco turns a lot of would-be homers into long fly outs with it's pitcher-friendly dimensions.  hmm.gif

They said it was the first time since Bosio & Eldred for the Brewers I believe!

They also said it was the first time in MLB in several years.

AND, the Brewers now have TWO, count em' TWO guys leading the NL in complete games with Sheets and Sabathia having four each. Of course, Sabathia got his in only SEVEN games! MAN I wish we could afford to re-sign him!

Brewers are on a roll. Five in a row. Nevermind that you are playing a struggling team. But a win is a win.

My Phillies took two of three from the Pirates. They lost Friday night in 12 innings. It was a shutout tie game until then. They should have won Burrell crushed a ball that should have been out but the wind knocked it down and the outfielder caught it at the fence. Oh well. Now they head out to Los Angeles and San Diego. I hope they can take five or six games. That would help them greatly.

Go Phillies!

I saw the extra inning game, it was great! Well, except for the result.

The Nats came into town having won six of seven, so I was a little worried. But you're right, they're a lousy team. This is good news regardless though, because too often in the past we seemed to play down to the competition.
