I think Woo & I discussed this on here once before, but it's one of those silly pet peeves of mine that I need to bring up to SOMEONE again, just to get it off my chest.
I realize I'm the only dweeb on the face of the planet that would actually have to get up out of bed to post this, but it's been bugging me since I noticed it yesterday.
On BIG BANG THEORY, based on the first floor lobby, Penny's ENTIRE apartment would have to be hanging over the street in front of the apartment complex.
They clearly show them repeatedly coming in from the street through the front doors, then there's stairs, the elevator, a hallway and the mail boxes.
As they go up the floors of the apartment the stairs and elevator remain, and the apartment doors replace the doors going outside and the mailboxes.
This annoys me for some reason. I know, I need a life. But I had to put it out there to rid my brain of it. They could have so easily put the elevator doors facing the hallway in the lobby and it all could have made sense. But nooooooooooo.
Seinfeld is stil the worst though. His kitchen was where the hallway would be so no one could ever get into or leave his apartment.
And based on the many times they've shown exterior shots of his building, occassionally with him or someone else hanging out his window to give a reference point, his bathroom would be hanging out over his street and his bedroom would actually be blocking the view from his living room window.
I'm tellin' ya, television architecture defies all logic. It's amazing.
I mean, they hire prop masters who's entire job is about making the set look real, buying and placing things around the apartment that look like they'd be in a "normal" house or apartment. Then they apparently don't give a crap about something as big as if the layout makes any sense.
I'm sure it's got something to do with needing room for the cameras, etc. I know I read that is why all those shows taking place in NY everyone has some huge place that would cost thousands, because they need the room for the crew and cameras to move around in. The design of the apartment is probably the same thing.
But then like I said, a very small change in design on THE BIG BANG would have eliminated the issue.
I'm over it now though, until I see the next ridiculous television architecture design and I have to spout off again
But most of it is just simple changes that I think could easily be done. But, there's lists and lists of continuity errors in tv and movies on the web, so they do stuff like that all the time. I think they don't really think that stuff matters. But it always bugs me.
Yeah, the continuity errors are constant. For some reason those I find amusing though. I'm an odd duck aren't I?
I saw a show yesterday where a guy proposed to woman and she took the ring box from him (camera angle was from behind the guy) then she said a few things, the shot changed to from behind the woman and the guy handed her the box again and she took it.
Another good one is Still Standing. They always have water bottles around the set and everytime a camera angle changes the level of the water changes, usually quite drastically. Up and down, up and down.
yeah me too! Half the time I don't even notice the plot on Still Standing anymore because I'm too busy watching the water bottles. You're right! That is annoyng!
