The Monday Thread

Here we go , another day another dollar - yes we really do say that over this side of the Pond....although no dollars for me - I'm off today taking the teen to the Orthodontist to see whether she should have braces or not.
My work week starts tomorrow...and I am dreading it!

Have a great day everyone! smile

Morning all. We have registration today so I will be busy. Emily starts school tomorrow, we are both very excited. Still no dog, but I will keep looking for a puppy. Hope everyone had a great weekend. I have no voice due to my sinus infection and screaming for three hours Saturday nite!

Have a great!

Good day all. I haven't looked at my email yet, but so far my day looks fairly reasonable.

And I'm on day 5 of exercising every morning. I know at some point I'll skip a day, but I'm proud of myself for doing 5 days straight. I'm shooting for 28 days straight, I think I read somewhere that it takes that long to form a habit.

I'm back. And og course I am tired yawn
For some reason I just couldn't sleep while I was camping. That is very unusual for me. Last night I took a Tylenol PM as I had weird pain and wanted to make sure I slept anyway. It did the trick.
Other than not sleeping it was a good weekend/ family reunion

Oh and Thurs I got my haircut with the new lady and I think she did good!

Oh I just remembered that there are a bunch of actor/actresses filming in Michigan right now. The one I know for sure is Drew Barrymore in Birch Run and Grand Blanc- Our local DJ ran into her. There are also a few in Holly. But all I can remember is Jack Black.

Morning all. Just another Monday. As usual, the weekend went by too quickly. Back to the grind.

Howdy.

I'm home with the boy today. He starts school tomorrow so I offered him today to just be home, chill, or do whatever he wants. He accepted the offer. Right now, he's curled up on the couch watching Spongebob.

Morning all! It was a busy weekend for me. Took my 5 yr old grandson shopping for school clothes on Saturday. He starts kindergarten today! Yesterday I spent the day trying to get ready for my trip later this week.

SG... stay safe! Thanks for posting the storm track. I was wondering. I have to fly into NC before going on to MD on Wednesday. Been wondering what the weather will be like. hmm.gif

G'morning trouble-makers smile.gif

I had another night of insomnia despite being very tired. It's so frustrating when I go into a cycle like this.

I go to bed at midnight, tired as can be. Then as soon as my head hit's the pillow I start thinking. Then eventually I start to wake up and wish it was morning because I'm so full of energy to start doing some things. Of course, I DON'T get up, but I wonder if maybe I'd be better off just giving into it and let my body tell me when I sleep and when I stay up.

Eventually I do fall asleep, usually around 6 AM, and it's a great sleep, but by 10 am I'm awake and then all day I'm kind of jittery and have little oomph because I just didn't get enough sleep.

When I'm lying there trying to sleep some of the dumbest stuff will pop into my head and I can't get it out until I get up and check on it. Like last night I wondered if the CD player in the car would play MP3 files. I laid there for 15 minutes thinking I'd check on it in the morning before I had to get up, get the manual and find out the answer (it doesn't).

Speaking of mp3's. Ipods have spoiled me so much that I was thinking how funny it is that I find a CD player in the car to be pretty much useless now. Why would I want to put together a CD for in the car when it can only hold 15 songs. Seems like a waste of time.

We do get spoiled over time don't we?

Alright, I've babbled on enough. I'm gonna follow EmZee's lead and exercise now instead of waiting for the afternoon. Maybe it'll pep me up.

Have a great Monday peoples!

I'm not happy. I have been pulled to my supervisor's desk and most hold the fort and answer phones. Someone got electricuted and all heck has broke out. I did grab my speakers though. There is no way I am spending a Monday with FM radio!

Oh and I am FireFoxless. cry

Wow, Woo, it sounds like pandemonium there!

JR, repeat after me, "Mizz" "Mizz" "Mizz" "Mizz"... Get that stupid "em zee" stuff out of your head!

Although, I did used to have insomnia like that, and sometimes I still do. I'm not sure how your mind works (thank goodness!), but I also had the problem of not being able to stop thinking. Now what I do is make up stories in my head when I go to bed. I try to direct myself away from thinking about real life and absorb myself into the story. Things like, what would I do if I met this famous celebrity? Where would I meet them at? How would I meet them? I would say this, and they would respond by saying that... And I just let my mind run with it. Or when I'm reading a book, I'll make myself into a character and put myself in the book. And these are things that are for me only, so I won't worry about writing them down.

Of course, then my mind keeps going with the story even after I fall asleep. That's probably how I dream so much. Those I do write down.

So I guess, really, I daydream myself to sleep.

Afternoon everyone,
Had an interesting night at work last night.  We had a gentleman try to kill himself.  Apparently the consequences of what he had done were finally hitting home.
I was one of several officers to respond and in the melee I sprained my knee (again).  It was great that we were able to prevent him from going through with his intentions, but my knee is not happy.

Mz, I am so proud of you. Spencer Johnson, of Who Moved my Cheese fame, and Steve Covey, of 7 Habits of Highly Successful people both say if you can keep it up for 14 days, it becomes a habit.

Way to go!!!!

Thanks CP! Well, the 14 days is good news, because I found a snafu that'll keep me from the 28.

We go to the drag races the Sunday and Monday of Labor Day weekend. With all the walking and being in the sun and the heat, those two days are pretty taxing anyway. And we usually get up early and get home late, so we usually don't get a full night's rest either night. I'll be getting plenty of exercise anyway, and I don't want to compromise my sleep for another hour when I'm already going to be running on little anyway. So I plan to take those two mornings off.

Well I don't wanna be a downer, and maybe I'm abnormal (keep your jokes to yourselves people evileye.gif) but I don't buy the habit stuff, be it 14 days or 28 days.

That may work for smoking crack, but I've exercised every day for 45 days straight and it doesn't become a habit.  It's work, it'll always be work.  And eventually I always fall off the exercise wagon.  And I consider myself to have a very VERY addictive personality.  I get addicted to EVERYTHING.

I know there's some people who are religious about their exercise, but I have to believe that's one of two things.  Either A, they actuallly enjoy it (mind boggling to me) or B, they don't enjoy it but are determined enough to stay with it no matter how much they want to quit.

Yeah, I kind of question it myself, but I'm trying to be encouraging to myself here.

But, I'm doing pretty good on the blogging thing.  I made an effort to blog every day, and although I've had lapses here and there, I'm still blogging nearly every day.  And I do that in the morning before work.  So I figure if I can do that, I can do the exercise thing.
