When I figure it out I will post a picture. My kids talked me into going to the Animal Shelter on Saturday.
I caved in and said, fine, but we are not getting another pet. We already have a dog, fish and guinnea pig.
You know as well as I do that didn't work. We have a cute little new addition. she is a white mix breed of weiner dog, el taco dog, and who knows what else. She is WONDERFUL. She doesn't bark, make any noise at all, housebroken, and is content to just lie next to me.
My daughters put a dress on her yesterday and she didn't even seem phased.
I am so happy to have this addition. My ten year old put her in a doll stroller yesterday and pushed her around the house. The dog just gave me this look like "HELP MEEEEEE!" Of course I just laughed.
Woo: she is exactly what I needed. she is calm, sweet and just a pleasure to have by my side. What it unusual for me is that I am NOT a small dog fan becasue they are hyper, yippee sounding and just annoying.
this one is the opposite of all sterotypes of small dog syndrome. (however, she does not like the guinnea pig.) My big dog lets her chew on her, until she decides play time is over. Then the little dog gets tossed across the room by her.
Although I had a similar "not getting another pet" experience. When our kitten, Joshua, died, we said we were going to wait for a while before we got another cat (we still had Sami). My boss at the time was a huge cat lover, and she ended up getting a cat foster mom to start talking to me. Of course, I got talked into, "Let me just bring some kittens over." I finally gave in and said okay.
That morning, I said to myself, I'm just not ready for another kitten yet. They're going to be cute and adorable, but I can resist.
She ended up bringing only one kitten. He was cute and adorable, and I played with him with a piece of string and said, "Yes, he's like the quintessential perfect kitten, but I'm not ready for another cat yet."
And then I picked him up. He cuddled against me and looked up with those big kitten eyes and wordlessly said, "Mommy!"
That's when we got Jack. And I don't regret it, he's still my buddy.
