I called the auto delaership a few minutes ago and made my offer for buying the extended warranty.

I told him I had investigated other options but liked the fact they offered an 18 month payment plan (which is true, but in reality there's no other plan out there that I really like anyway).

He said he'd have to call me back once he took a look at the numbers.  So now I'm waiting for the call where he says "I talked to my manager and we want to work with you, but we can't get it down to that price, the best we can do is..."

Then I'll have to decide if I want to call his bluff or not

I hate this stuff.  Extended warranties suck.  I KNOW that if I ever actually have to use it the process of getting things done will be a major hassle.  I also know they will magically come up with all kinds of parts that aren't covered so my bill will be well above the $100 deductible.

Yet, if something truly major went, like the transmission, I'd be wishing I had the warranty.
