I'm excited to announce some HUGE news for the station.
Anyone who has listened for any length of time knows that I have gone on the air and written in this forum that Freeze-Frame Radio will never ask for donations.
95% or better of the stations out there rely almost solely on donations from their listeners, often trying to basically threaten them with "If we don't raise enough money we'll have to cut back on the free spots and you won't be able to listen anymore".
The Jazz Doctor and I have always been adamantly opposed to this approach. We both feel that the music should be free, and if we need to raise money we need to find other ways to do it. Like the small amount we get via the VIP money, and other methods.
Well, I'm excited to announce that we have signed our first ever sponser, and are very close to signing a second sponser.
NOW, BELEIVE ME, THIS IS GOOD NEWS. Do not worry that we are going to become a commercial heavy station, that is simply not going to happen. We only are trying to raise enough money to continue the growth of the station, hopefully eventually to a pro station.
We are trying to keep sponserships mostly in the vein of having the DJ mention the company on air as opposed to the regular 30 second commercial spot (although we will run those as well at times).
We're also working on having certain parts of our show sponsered, for example, some day it could be "JD's Pick Of The Week, sponsered by the Jazz House Restaurant on 3'rd & Vliet, where you can have your steak with a side of jazz" (you get the idea).
We are also working on some creative cross promotion advertising to help grow the listener base and the community forum. By this I mean we are seeking businesses willing to hand out a flyer, magnet, or some other item with every sale, in exchange for on-air spots.
I just wanted to share this information with you, because it's so exciting for us. The revenue we raise will help to increase the size of our library, add free listener slots, raise the quality of the web-site and much, much more!
