That is an excellent question. I think that the company has been relying way too much on the idea of free PCS to PCS calling as a viable alternative to the "circle" notion. The product and marketing people (crap flinging monkeys in my opinion) are starting to work on the calling plan offerings. The big push right now is on "Simply Everything" ... the unlimited omnibus suite of plans. Several suggestions have been made by non-product/marketing employees to come up with something like that. What we are being told is that we don't want to look like the "me too" company, so we aren't moving in that direction. Honestly, I think we will at some point give in and "me too" it. I just don't know when.
For you though, I will again submit the suggestion. Along with my weekly request to get some better commercials.

I really like Sprint. I've had Verizon (horrible) and two others that are no longer around. Sprint is my favorite.
But they have two things that annoy me.
1) The no circle thing
2) The early termination fee isn't pro-rated like the other services are.
My contract is up in summer of 09 and I'll be switching JUST to get the cirlce option (unless of course Sprint has it by then).
I've considered the MY EVERYTHING option, but $100 is just more than I want to spend. I don't need email and web browsing and all that stuff on my phone. I just want to be able to call people.
I've got two friends who have Sprint, so at least we have mobile to mobile. But I get so sick of asking "are you on your cell phone" to make sure the minutes are free.
Last night I was talking to Web and he asked if I had a circle plan and I said "nope, and now that you remind me, I'm gonna yell at Mema about that"
I have (and have had) Verizon and haven't had any problems. Most of my friends and family are also on Verizon, so I have that whole in-network thing going on.

My problem with Verizon was just that they had poor coverage in my area. I couldn't use my phone in my own house.
Erica had Sprint, she'd come over and have five bars in my house. So that's the main reason I switched. I just found Verizon to have shoddy coverage all over Milwaukee.
I just switched from ATT/Cingular cause I kept having bad spots. I got tmobile and LOVE it, cause I can add/subtract min. downloads etc on my kids phone. At last a company saw there was value in giving power to the parent rather than these obnoxious 700 a month bills.
Yeah, Mema...even my crappy...ahem wonderful little company has a "my circle" type of deal. WE just can't seem to bill it correctly. I'm not complaining though because my phone is cheap thanks to having family that work for sprint...
And we sincerely thank you for being one of the few people who doesn't hate us like some heinous disease. I'm with you on the fact that the no circle thing is a big miss. As for the early termination fees, I'll have to check into that... but I'm pretty sure they stick firm to it to discourage "churn".
I do know that the whole customer care business model is going through an overhaul. One of the chief complaints we had for a long time was that any time someone would call into customer care, their contract would get extended. That practice has been done away with.
While we have been talking about all this, I've been perusing the company issued "elevator speeches" to see if there is anything covering those particular subjects in there, but there is nothing specific on those topics. Yes, we really do get talking points from the Crystal Palace... the employee nickname for the actual headquarters building here at the campus.
I did note that there are different levels of the "Simply Everything" plan that are less expensive. You might check into those to see if something like that might work for you. Depending on your usage, one of those might work out well. The smaller versions of the plan start at $69.99 per month.

I actually was a Sprint customer about ten years ago and dropped you guys over the resetting plan business. Anytime we make any kind of change to our plan it reset it to the full two years. Part of the reason I came back was I found out they stopped doing that.
i honestly thought i heard that the congress and judicial system said the companies could not enforce the early term. fees. they can try but they can be disputed for casue, like dropped calls etc.

Keep talking Suzbo.. you are only a half step out from having been a Sprint employee.
Dysfunctional billing peeps... some things are universal. Ask Brehznev and the pansy... they spend half their week helping the billing peeps with the unbillable issues.

That is probably true. All of the phone companies charge early termination fees, but they can be disputed if you have the patience to go through the process. Most people just won't hassle with it.

I was pleasantly surprised to find Verizon has a pro-rated fee. I cancelled three months early and only paid about $30.
That seems fair to me since the carriers claim the fee is to cover the initial free phone. If I completed 21 of 24 months that phone is largely paid for.
Makes sense to me that it should be prorated. But what do I know? I'm a network jerk. I spend my days trying to maintain network preformance. On the up side, month over month we have been hitting new "best ever network performance" numbers. Now if I can just get the billing, customer care, and marketing people to fall in line.
WHY CAN'T I GET A FUNNY COMMERCIAL?!?! That's all I ask!!

I'm a Verizon gal. If we could just get service when we were up north I'd be a happy camper. Most of the people I talk to are on Verizon so it's free. We used to have Nextel but back then they only catered to new customers and we got sick of it and moved on.

You guys get killed in commercials Mema. All the others are coming up with great, memorable ones and you got new CEO Dan Hesse or whatever his name is walking down a road in what appears to be Italy or something.
The Verizon ones are cool. "It's a dead zone. Calls disappear in that room"
Or the T-Mobile ones. SNL did a hilarious parody of that this weekend. With the brother who's five friends are the same as the sisters and the dad says "maybe you shouldn't have such hot friends"
Really, they are the best choice out here in corn country. They are not cheap but I don't think anyone is. I'm paying $100/month, but thats unlimited data/internet, unlimited text, and 500 day minutes (which I don't use that much), 10 free Circle numbers, free night/weekends, free mobile-mobile.
I agree... our commericals perform the biologically impossible (they simultaneously suck AND blow!). The employees have a grass roots campaign going to get away from the high-brow corporate image stuff and to get to what works. Funny definitely works, so does risque. I know we have it in us... we had a couple really good Superbowl commericals. One was the "theft deterrant system" one where two guys are in a locker room talking about the cool features of their phones and the one guy throws his phone at the other guy's head. I laughed out loud over that one. The other was actually for the mobile broadband/laptop card... Connectile Dysfunction. It was so cheezy... just like a Cialis commerical.

You wouldn't have to leave the house to go to work. Maybe you wouldn't have to pay for your phone service. And when you move home you can still do the job. Totally portable.

All true for the most part. I have to pay for my actual phone equipment, but as an employee, my phone service is unlimited everything for free. I also have the mobile broadband card... employee rate $15/month unlimited, but I got the card itself for free. The only reason I have to come to the office is that they don't like the full time telecommuter idea. Realistically, I could work from anywere that my MBB card gets service.

Yeah, yeah I know...if my job hadn't moved to denver, I'd still be over there, and I probably wouldn't be going crazy thinking my company has lost their entire minds with half of the crap that they do. BUT, to give billing people a break...we are given this unbillable crap, and then have to go back to the customer and tell them about it, which results in us getting ulcers...so there.
