Howdy.

I'm at church. We had a good practice. I'm normally meeting with another guy during this time, but he wasn't ready this morning so I'm just keeping a low profile in the sound booth and goofing around until service time.

A friend is working on his garage roof. I may go help him shingle this afternoon. Not sure yet if/what that plan is.

Sunday on.

Good afternoon! I slept in til just before the start of today's round of football games. The Chiefs are taking a beat down in Atlanta. no.gif It's okay... I picked them to lose that game. My plan of the day is to lay here watching the games. It's a nice day outside so I have the windows open as to enjoy it while being entirely too lazy to get outside. smile.gif

Good afternoon!  I just finished proof reading my youngest girl's thesis paper for her English class.....she had to write a paper on whether she's most like Tigger, Eeyore, or both, and surprisingly, that was harder than it sounds.  Earlier today I watched the Michael Moore film, "Sicko" with my oldest girl.  It's the first time I've seen it, and it made me feel angry and frustrated.  I'd like to fire off a couple letters right now, but know it wouldn't do any good.

Last night I watched "Shine A Light".....The Rolling Stones concert movie.  It was really good, though there were a couple of songs I thought Jagger was rushing a little bit.  Maybe I'm just used to hearing those as studio releases instead of a live performance.  I gotta say, though, that after all these years, the four of them still look like they're having a fantastically great time when they're up on stage!!  smile

That's about all I have to report on right now.  Looking forward to JD's shows tonight!!  biggrin

The Stones do put on a heckuva good stage show. I caught them on the Steel Wheels tour when they came through KC. That was a fantastic show.

I watched their Steel Wheels concert live on cable.......we had an illegal black box at that time.  That was a great concert!!!  Anyway, just before the end of the concert, this line of text started scrolling across the tv screen.........."searching, searching, neighborhood identified, lines found."  Holy crap, the cable company sent something through the lines that was searching for these dang boxes during the concert!!  The next day, my neighbor said he was also watching the concert on his illegal box and asked if our's was still working.  NADA!!  They killed a bunch of boxes that night.  I'm still amazed they never came after any of us for having those boxes.

That's the closest I've come to actually being at a Stones concert.  I've always wanted to see them live, but they never came around when tickets were cheaper.  Now they come to MI a lot when they tour, but I can't afford to go see them.  cry

I know what you mean! The only reason I got to see them then was that Kevin gave me a pair of tickets as a birthday present. He refused to go along with me, which was okay. He just liked giving good presents. The Stones did most of my favorite of their songs in that show, so I'm really glad I got to go.

I generally figure I have more pressing things to spend money on than concert tickets. Was going to try to go to Maroon 5 and Counting Crows next week, but had to agree with my friend who was going to go with me that the tickets were cost oppressive. tears.gif

I'm still not feeling so good today. I'm still not sure what I got into, but I had to have eaten something I'm allergic to, and a good dose of it. I think it's something from the sandwich I got on Friday. When I had that Kit Kat, it didn't affect me this much. But man, I could really take a nap right now, and I slept for 12 or so hours last night.

No apologies Squonk. The winters suck, but we have a beautiful country side up there. When I move back I hope to land out in that country side. nod.gif

It worked out that I was able to help a friend shingle the other 1/2 of his garage. Two of us were able to help him get it finished which is good as the forecast has a chance of rain in it.

Now its time for Cowboys/Packers and then some supper.

well hello!
wonderful weekend here. my neighborhood had an art walk this past friday night/ sat morning, so it was cool to stroll through the shops open a bit later than normal on friday night. jazz singer at the wine shop that was pretty good, and then the pizza place near here just started featuring outdoor dining, which on friday night was perfect weather wise.....
Saturday was just a fun day to grill out stakes, visit with friends, hit the farmers market and butcher, and enjoy the weather.
Today was great too- lawn and laundry and stuff, there was this equinox fest at a park near here filled with a bunch of wanna be wiccan witches and stuff, which was fun. I picked up a book called "How can one sell the air?" from which I might read a bit later on this evening during jazz 101. really beautiful weather. the leaves are just starting to change.smile.gif

Is this a book about how to sell stuff on air?  Are you gonna go all infomercial on us and try selling as "as seen on radio" stuff?  weirdface.gif

You KNOW I can't listen tongiht.  It's Packers vs. Cowboys crying.gif

lol no its a native american book about how the settlers kept on trying to buy the land for stuff like cheap beads and made the deals. Here the settlers are thinking "stupid indians, mesmerized by pretty beads....." and the native americans were going "snick....them white dummies...how do you BUY land? How do you BUY air???"

Hey, I'd love to go to a real Powwow with you......I know you'd get into it big time!  I usually leave those with a sense of peace within myself.   Not trying to sound all corny, but there's just something mystical about a real Powwow.

oh I betcha! I went to one years ago, but since the casinos are now the money maker for the tribes in the state, the pow-wows went back to being private again. I can understand and respect that. although there is a kinda fun gathering at our state fair grounds that ends up being like a combined tribe pow-wow where even us of not NA background can eventually join in at the end and dance. its pretty cool.smile.gif

That would be the Circle or Round Dance.  It usually is the last dance and everyone is invited to participate.  It doesn't matter if you know the steps or not, all you have to do is have some sense of rythym to stay on beat.  I've seen first hand how some non-Natives really lose their sense of self during that dance.  It's a very good thing when that happens.  They are getting in touch with a force far greater than themselves.  smile

And the big Powwow you're speaking of is a real Powwow!  They hold several open Powwows every year.  There's a huge one down in Four Corners that I'd love to go to........maybe some day I'll get there.
