I love this feature on my phone. Of course I don't do it when I am driving.
But if I want to say "good morning" or just something simple, w/o dialing up I do it all the time.
I have unlimited texting.

Do any of you use texting regularly?

I use it regularly. Need to stop doing it while I am driving though - don't do it much but it would only take one uh-oh.

I think I've mentioned before: I hate phones.

So obviously, I love texting. Short and sweet, and each message only takes up 1/3 a minute to send and 1/4 minute to receive. Although I don't usually text people stuff like "hi" or "how are you doing", it's more stuff like, "I'm headed to the Lion, wanna come?"

I voted that I do it but don't like it.

Texting is actually a great tool that I do think is very useful, unfortunately I know too many people who think it's a way to hold a conversation. If we're going to go back and forth more than twice then just call me.

i don't use it alot, really only to message maranda if she doesn't answer. i finally had to add unlimited texting to my plan 1) i added a phone for maranda and we only have 700 minutes between 3 phones and i didn't know if she was a habitual texter (she is), and 2)because jacob was sneaking texts and my cell bill was outrageous! 25 cents to send or receive!

eh I don't do it often. If I had unlimited then I might do it more. But usually I will text my husband and then he will call me anyway no.gif

I do not use it at all on my phone. When I pay my cell phone bill online, I can text him there and I usually will just pass a note that I love him. But I have only had one text message and it came from DS!

I agree, I don't usually want to have a conversation via text.

There's only one exception for me, my sister.  She's allowed to have her cell phone at school and use it between classes, but most teachers make them turn the phones off in the classroom.  Also if I want to tell her something, or more often have her tell me something, without her mom or dad hearing, I can text it to her.

I text often. I also agree a bit with JR. If you are going to have a whole conversation, then call.

I love texting when there's only a brief exchange needed. It's a greta convenience for me, but I do need a better phone for those purposes! I do get annoyed with a few acquaintances who send a rapidfire succession of messages, though, instead of thinking through what they want to say and putting it in 1 or 2 messages. I'm even more annoyed with people who text while driving...how dumb is that!

For me, text messaging is a business tool.

I average 1,200 to 1,500 INCOMING text messages every month. I have my email accounts configured so that when I get an email, a script pulls the first 150 characters off the message and sends it to me as a text. That usually gives me enough of the message that I can tell if it is something I need to get to the computer to take care of right away, or if its something that can wait.

I do use it some with a few people, but mostly I think it more as a "voice mail" kind of tool. Send the message and they will get it on their own available time.

If its important, I still would rather just call or email to know for sure they got it or to get the answer I need right away.

Text messaging goddess over here! There is no such thing as privacy in my office, so that is generally the best means talking sometimes. I have a daily text chat with my other best friend because he no longer works with me. Lengthier or more involved conversations are phone calls or in person, but for us it has replaced IM.

If you think about it, the forum is a form of the same thing. You just don't get the chime when the message comes in. smile.gif

Schizzle...tell me about it. omg.gif I typically have 4 or 5 conversations going on all day long at work. Then there's Doug on my phone and the random gatherings of the crew at my desk.

I'm an IM-ing, texting fool. I hate to talk on the phone so IM-ing or texting saves me.

Funny thing. My son had more than 6000 texts last month. Hallelujah for unlimited.

I don't use it often; usually just if I need to leave a message for one of my girls and they have their phones shut off.  I must be the weird one over in the corner because I would still rather talk on the phone than send out a bunch of text messages.  hmm

There have been instances where we have texted when we were across the bar from one another. Don't ask. no.gif I am strange, therefore so are my friends.

Fuzzy.... that's not weird. We do it all the time. Some things you just don't want to shout out to the whole bar or the whole office.

I normally don't like to talk to people on the phone, so texting is a must with me.

My mother has texted me from her bedroom when I was in the room directly beneath her in our house, so texting across a bar isn't that bad biggrin.gif
