Movie Review: The Happening

This, without a doubt, was one of the stupidest and poorly acted films I have ever seen. It was terrible. I kinda enjoyed that it was so so bad tho.

laughing.gif Agreed, it was baaaaad, though I can't say it was the worst I've ever seen. I'm not sure how much of its failure to appeal was the bad acting or the poorly developed plot line. I thought it was a big disappointment for a Shyamalan flick.

Guess I won't waste my time. That is one of those movies that I see the commercials for and think "that will either be really good or it will abjectly suck". Kind of like 30 Days of Night. The best parts of that movie were absolutely in the commercials.

Unbreakable, Signs, The Sixth Sense, The Village and Lady in the Water are some of his past movies he wrote and directed.

Yep, I knew his name was familiar for some reason.  laughing.gif  I've seen all those movies except Unbreakable.

Thanks G-gal!

Oh, and JR too.  The "I see dead people" triggered it for me.  biggrin

Man, ain't that the truth.  That was DEFINATELY the case with War, Inc.  All the good scenes were in the two minute trailer.  Although it did have a good, unexpepcted ending.

I like a lot of Shyamalan films, but I hate how they're advertised. They're always advertised as one thing, while the film is really about something else entirely. That really affected me when I saw The Village. I had to get past what I thought the movie was going to be about before I could actually enjoy the movie.

Me too Mz.  In fact, I watched it two times in a row because the first time around I thought I missed something.  Then I realized I thought that because of the trailers that I saw.  hmm

I'd agree with you there Mz. The trailers are often so sensationalized that they miss the point of the story.

My favorite was actually Unbreakable, because it was so clever and subtle...and I knew nothing about it before I saw it!

Just finished watching this film.

I think they woulda been better off if they'd have let it be a terrorist thing.

MAN THIS FILM SUCKED!

And then, being an M Night Shamalan film I expected a twist at the end but there was none.

Bad plot, bad acting, it was like a story that didn't need to be told.

On the Jeremy scale of 0 to 10 I give this film a 1.

Last night I watched "21".  It's about MIT kids that learn to count cards under Kevin Spacey's direction, then they go to Vegas and play Blackjack.  Compared to what I've been watching on regular tv, I thought it was pretty good.
