NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month. "National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30."
Although I already have a ton of projects to do and it's going to be a crazy month anyway, I've decided to do it. I've never written a novel before, and I don't know if I even wrote 50,000 words in one month in college. But, I'm up to the challenge, at least if I don't make it, I can try. If I do make it, I think it will be quite an accomplishment. Anyone want to join me?
I think everyone has at least one novel in them...I always wanted to write one too. I dont think now is a good time for me but I am eager to read yours Mz. Good luck. Any topics in mind?
I wish you the best of luck with this endeavor Mz! I'd love to read it after you're done writing.
I'm going to pass on giving this a try. I can't even write a blog on a regular basis so I know something like writing 175 pages in a month would be impossible for me.
Yeah, I've never been very successful at writing anything too long. But I figure I can always write a book of short stories if I get stuck. I think that's allowed. I figure it's a long shot, but I won't know how I can do if I don't try.
It's probably not the best time for me either. But, it may never be the best time.
I've had a few stories in my head for a couple years. Right now I'm leaning to a vampire story, where vampires' blood is stolen and sold as a drug.
That's a cool idea. Not sure if you have been watching "True Blood" or not, but they use that idea in the show. Humans who consume "V" (vampire blood) experience all kinds of weird effects.

Oh shoot. No, I haven't watched True Blood, but I got this idea during the viral campaign for it before I really knew what the show was about. But, it sounds like it might be real close to what I had in mind. I really don't want this to be categorized as fan fiction.
I might go with idea #2, where most current illegal drugs are legal in the same way as tobacco and alcohol, but chocolate is an illegal drug.
can i be a character? i do a good scream. i used to be the scream for my brother's haunted house when i was around 6, and i'm sure at 42... errr, 24, my lungs are even more developed...
stupid office peepers, i wasn't done....
of course, i'm looking to the future, after you novel is published and is released on audio...

Good luck Mz. I too would like to read it when it is completed. I don't think I would be a very good writer as I don't have an imagination. The best my brain can do is try to imagine winning the lottery. I starting jotting some ideas down for a soccer book a few years ago after I was laid off. Don't think I have touched it since then except to pick up the notebook and go "oh yeah, I should do something about that" and put it back on the kitchen table.I am so lazy.

Stop trying to be what you see. Be what you ought to be.
Fuzzy, you could write your soccer book. As far as I can tell, the only requirement is that it's 50,000 words. Come on, you know you want to join in. It would be motivation...
I can't stop thinking about this now. I've come up with a working title and a synopsis:
The Cocoa Addicted Mind Chocolate. Cocoa. Cacao. Fudge. It doesn't matter what you call it, if I'm caught with even half an ounce, I could face a minimum of 4 years in prison. It's ruined my life and cost me my job, my husband, and my son. I hate it. I love it. I need it. I have given everything I have for the experience of that musky sweetness that melts onto my tongue and fills my mouth.
I think both the title and the synopsis need work yet, but it gives me something to post to my author page. I've also worked up a rough outline and bookmarked some reference material.
I can't write it yet, I have to wait until November 1st. But I'm ready to start writing now.
I'll warn you though, there will be a sex scene. And yes, it will involve chocolate. It's already mapped out in my mind. I didn't expect to have anything really steamy, but it came to me while I was trying to sleep last night, and it's so perfect I can't pass it up.
