The Stay-cation

I took off tomorrow and tuesday from work. It will be nice to just chill for a couple of days, not have work on the brain. But the time will not be wasted. I am finally getting around to my spring cleaning! nod.gif

Not that my place isn't clean, its just gotten cluttery. and even then the clutter has ended up in utility drawers, on desktops etc. the time has come to clear this stuff up, decide if it stays or if its gotta go!

I'm hoping that at the end of 2 days, the satisfaction of having clutter removed will bring a similar joy of having a get-away weekend. Refreshed at home, kinda. we'll see.smile.gif

darn straight I will have wine.biggrin.gif

Isn't it amazing how much stuff you accumulate in drawers, on top of counters, or in closets?  Sometimes I wonder where all the junk comes from and why did I save it to begin with.  hmm

its amazing sandy- the piles and piles of paper. most of the stuff I know is garbage gets thrown out immediately, but I've gotten in a bad habit of thinking "I'll want this. or I will check this out later...." man o man it adds up, and then as time moves on, it loses its meaning or value a lot of times. but theirs still stuff in there needed or worth keeping. and that stuff deserves a better spot than in the "to do" piles that got accumulated.

I also want to switch out some of the art on the walls, work on the flow of a few of the rooms. we'll see. whats that called...fung sei? funk sway?confused.gif

That's such a great thing to do for yourself, JD. It gives you time to do some of those things you keep wanting to accomplish but never seem to have the time or energy to accomplish. Have fun with it! smile

Ah, you're going to be moving furniture too.  Just don't do what I tend to do....I get myself cornered and then can't get out.  laughing.gif

I usually move the furniture around 3 or 4 times a year just to give a room a different look and feel.  The only room I can't do too much with is my bedroom....have a king size waterbed and the only way to move that is to drain all the water out....no way!!

I haven't moved the furniture since I bought my house 5 1/2 years ago. Did buy some new stuff after I kicked Kev out, but that doesn't really count.

I wish I had the time to paint.  I want to change the color on my walls, but just don't have the time to do it.  I always say during the summer when I'm off work I'll get it done, but that never happens.

it won't be anything major, I don't think. but still, I haven't in ages taken the time to access "do I like this here best, etc. Just some good busy home time. take the air conditioner out etc....make room in the storage closet for it, what to do with what I had to take out of the closet to make it fit etc....smile.gif

Some day I need to paint the upstairs in my house. I have the downstairs painted. The kitchen is a slightly yellowish white, the living room is sage green, and the dining room and family room are a pale purple shade called Monet Lilac. I got it to go with a print of Monet's Waterlilies that hangs in my dining room. smile.gif

thats what I'm hoping for sandy. I always know come winter, the clutter seems more cluttery, more shut in, I want to try and head that off, just have stuff in the right place. smile.gif

I want to paint my living room a light sage green....I know the exact color when I see it.  It's a huge room to paint though......not only have the living room but the long L-shaped hallway leading off from it too.  My kitchen is a lemon yellow and a soft, light green; bathroom is light grey, bedroom is two shades of blues, rest of the house is white....girls' rooms and dining room.

I did a little bit of that cleaning/straightening stuff yesterday myself. The kitchen table looks much better. My desk had a corner with stuff piled on it, now it is clear. And the filing (that I normally toss on the floor in a pile for a few months at a time) has been put away. I had a thought the other day that it may be time to go through the closet too. At the very least, some things on the shelves need to be refolded.
