MPS students favor Obama by landslide margin
Milwaukee's kindergarten to 12th-grade set has decided Obama's their man, according to early results of Milwaukee Public Schools' first districtwide mock election.
District officials haven't finished tallying votes, but with 70% of schools reporting and according to the more than 37,000 votes cast, Barack Obama won in a landslide with 87%, John McCain got 10% of the vote, Cynthia McKinney and Ralph Nader each took 1%, and Chuck Baldwin and Bob Barr each received 0.5% of students' votes.
The results were released today at Cooper Elementary School, 5143 S. 21st St., where students have spent recent months watching excerpts of the debates and conventions, researching the Electoral College and learning about the candidates and local issues that will appear on tomorrow's ballot.
