I'm here but I didn't sleep again. I need someone to club me in the head or something. cry
Last night we took the girl to dinner and had a nice time. My head hurt from listening to a 16yr old girl talk all night but I was happy that she was engaging and not texting the whole night. She has already seen Twilight and says that the book is way better and told me not to see it if I didn't read the book because it gave too much away. This is the opposite of what I've been hearing on the radio but who knows.

Good day all.

I'm still bubbling about my Nanowrimo win this morning. I really can't believe I did it. Now I just have to finish the book.

Other than that, I'm hoping today will be a quieter day at work. I was really hoping this being a short week that people wouldn't want a whole lot, but I was wrong. Instead, I have to do more since we're short staffed.

So, back to the grind.

Mornin'

I woke up feeling like I did exercises in bed all night. I don't think I'm sick, but my arms and legs feel like I've been working out really hard. I took the boy to school and then came back home. I'll probably stay here this morning maybe see if I can catch a little nap to perk up some.

The goal is to write a 50,000 word novel.  As long as you hit the 50,000 words you win, you don't necessarily have to finish the novel (although it's encouraged, and I'd like to).

Mz, do you actually win a prize, or it is just bragging rights to know you were the first one to 50k?

Morning gang. Glad we are halfway through the week.

Woo - I hope you get a chance to rest over the holiday.

Mz - Way to go! w00t.gif We all knew you could do it. Now we will patiently await the completion and revision. nod.gif Then we are going to have a good read. So, when it is published (because we know somewhere down the line it will be), may I send you my copy for an autograph?

Web - may I take a nap too?

Well, I get a certificate, and icons like the one below that say I'm a winner. I'm easy to please. And, I wasn't the first to 50k, anyone who gets to 50k is a winner. (Yeah, it's like being back in 3rd grade.)

And when (if) I'm published, I'll send an autographed copy to anyone here that wants one.

How much more ya think ya have to go? How longs is a 50k word book anyway?

50k is about 175 pages, according to their website.

I wouldn't be surprised if this book has another 20k in it. But I kind of hope not, because I don't think I'd be able to get that done this weekend. I might condense things just to get it done, and then I can vamp it back up later.

Congratulations MZ. That's quite an accomplishment.

I've tried writing before but I can never drag out my story ideas long enough to be anything close to a book. I guess I'm not very good at the filler and the background stuff.

Are you going to publish the book on some of the self-publishing web sties? There's a ton of them now.

Well, I never got to see my grandma yesterday because when she came out of surgery she was completely out of it of course. But today she's in a regular room so I'm gonna head up there in a little bit and give her a high five for a successful surgery smile.gif

This afternoon I'm heading to the casino for two hours (Just two hours, I swear) because they're giving away some stuff today (including a free lunch/dinner) and my last two trips have been pretty successful.

Then this evening I'm moving my OTHER grandmother into my Mom's house. We have to move her dressers, bed, TV, etc from my aunts house to my Mom's. Somehow I was nominated to be half the moving team hmm.gif YAY ME!

Now let's get our Tuesdays on! clap.gif

Good morning, all! I'm finally up and around again. Got some more baking to do today before I venture out of the house. Did step outside a bit earlier to talk to my next door neighbor for a few minutes... looks like another great day. Sunny and warmish, probably going to be in the mid to high 50's.

I'm going to check in at the hospital a little later today to see how Pambo is doing. She's a morning sleeper, so she advised me to chill out and do my own stuff until afternoon. Richard is going to a basketball game tonight, so I'll definitely be there while he is away.

Congrats on winning, Mz. Quite an accomplishment. clap.gif Can't wait to read your work. smile.gif

Woo... hope your bout of insomnia breaks soon.

Riggs... give your Grandma a high 5 for me. Outstanding that she is doing so well.

Web... get feeling better. Turkey day is almost upon us. No getting sick now!

Fuzzy... nap on, girlfriend! You earned it.

Ruby and SG.. HI THERE! Have a great day.

Will do. I read her the whole Pambo Update thread yesterday. She was really touched that everyone cares so much.

Hi all!  Today was my last day of work until Monday.  clap.gif

I just got the mail in, and had a very unpleasant surprise waiting for me to open.  My gas and electric bill came........$289.95!!!!  WTF??!!!!  It's an actual meter read (they all have been) from October 24th to November 21st.  Last month my bill was $98.  Consumers said they were raising rates, but this is ridiculous!!! We're not even in the coldest part of winter yet; I hate to see my January, February, and March bills!!!  I almost died when I opened this.  This just burns me up!  I hate Consumers Energy right now!!!! furiousfuriousfuriousfurious

I've been sitting here since 12:30 watching a new bass DVD set "Groove Workshop" by Victor Wooten. Its full of really great stuff and I'm only 1/2 way through it. Now I gotta take a break and go get the boy from school.

I know JR!  And what really ticks me off is we have a brand new high efficiency gas furnace (2 years old), put in all new vinyl insulated high efficiency windows (also 2 years old), and last year added 15 additional inches of insulation throughout the whole attic along with having more insulation blown into all the outside walls of our house.  The gas portion of this bill is $223.00.....just to heat the house!!  Frickin' crazy!!  So tonight I turned the thermostat down from 68 to 60 and this is where it's staying the rest of the winter and closed off all the heating vents in the basement.....our's is all insulated and finished off, drywalled and panelling.  No way am I gonna pay that outrageous amount of money for the next 4 or 5 months!

I know. People think I'm nuts for keeping my thermostat at 60 but I don't care. Even if I can afford the high prices I think it's like money out the window.

A sweater or sweatshirt cost $10 and lasts you several winters. A lot cheaper than paying for an extra 8 degrees in your house all winter.

Ghost you might even try a space heater to follow you around. That is high, I would have died I believe! I am not sure I ever went over 200. I am wondering how big your house is and if you water is heated this way too.

My house is average size, about 1,500 sq ft.  We do have a gas hot water heater but that's also 2 years old.  The water heater, furnace, and my cooking stove all have electronic ignitions on them so that means there is no pilot light constantly burning, therefore no wasted gas.  I talked to my dad and my next door neighbor lady yesterday and their heat and electric bills are also outrageously high this month, so it's definitely because Consumer's jacked up their rates.

I thought about buying an electric space heater to use in the living room at night while we're all up and about.  How are they on consuming electricity?  I remember the old ones being terribly expensive to use.

Anyway, I called a "family meeting" last night and laid down the ground rules.  My family is now on an "energy diet" for the duration of the winter.  If they're not using it, they have to shut it off and unplug it.....stereos, tvs, PS2, Xbox, dvd players, microwave, coffee pot....anything that runs on stand by power or has a built in clock in it.  I even went so far as to tell them that the last one on the computers (we have 2) at night is to hit the off switch on the power strips.  I'm not sure if this will somehow "hurt" the computers over time.  Maybe Web can let me know. smile

As long as you shut the computer down before shutting the power strip off, you should be fine.
