WOW driving home last night the moon, Jupiter and Venus were bright and big and BEAUTIFUL! Anyone else see it?

I saw it on my ride home around 6:15pm and was mad at myself for not having my camera in the car.

I am hoping to have a shot at taking that picture again tonight. I know the moon rises later every day, so it may give me the opportunity to get it after dinner.

I noticed that too.

I didn't know what planets they were but it was just getting dark and I told Mrs Web: Those have to be planets by the moon since they are so much brighter than everything else in the sky.

Yeah, the planets have been hanging around. And it just makes a better picture when the moon is there too. I wish I had a super duper telephoto lense or a telescope that I could connect my camera to. Then the picture would be closer and even better.

I had clouds too. The alignment was out, then it disappeared behind some clouds and reappeared later.

Ha, it's really weird.  Sunday night they said we had 4 1/2 inches; Monday morning it was up to 6, last night it was down to 4.  I don't know how they're measuring. no.gif

I stuck a yardstick in the snow in my yard; right now we have 7 and more is on the way but they're not saying how much to expect yet.

On Dec 13th there is expected to be a meteor shower...but don't know what one will be able to see and from where....

Yeah, it wasn't as close. I blew my chance at my picture of the year. I gazed at it last night but was bummer it wasn't as neat as the night before.

That was another reason I was hoping to be able to capture a nice picture. It wouldn't have replaced actually seeing it with your own eyes, but for those of you that may have had clouds again last night, it would have been an opportunity to at least catch a glimpse.

Yeah, we do.  I get it from both Lake Michigan on the west and Lake Huron on the east.  I live closer to Lake Huron, so when snowstorms blow in from the west (Lake MI side) they tend to sit and spin over Lake Huron before moving on to the New England states, dumping even more snow on me than what other parts of MI get. 

We're supposed to get around 4 more inches tonight with freezing rain/drizzle mixing in with it.  Whoopie.  hmm

The sky cleared off here late this afternoon, so I got go see them again. Now they are way far away from the moon.
