Books

Do you buy them, borrow them, go to the library or only read the forum?!wink

I am addicted to books on tape right now, but normally I borrow books. Friends and the library. If I buy it I already read it and it has some future value to me.

Just what is this "reading" of which you speak?

It depends on the book. If it's suggested by a friend, I usually borrow it from that person. Otherwise, I'll borrow it from the library. If I read the book once and know I'll want to read it again, I'll buy it. Or if I know it's likely I'll want to read the book more than once, I'll just go ahead and buy it. (For example, if it's written by an author whose work I've bought in the past.)

I don't like reading other than the newspapers and the occasional biography. I probably buy an average of less than a book a year.

I never take em' out from the library.

There's a few music reference books I have, and a couple biographies, that's it.

Mostly I just use em' to prop up the short leg on the kitchen table.

I loves me some books. I usually will buy them. Sometimes go to the library to get a sampling of an authors work to see if its something I'd want for my home library.

I don't ever read just for "entertainment" or the "pleasure" of reading unless its a magazine article or something like that. I'd much rather spend two hours watching a movie than 10 reading the book.

Most books I read are for reference, learning, or have some kind of "purpose" to me. For that reason, I buy them so I can go back to them as needed.

I am a combination person. Some books I buy. Others I will borrow from the library (provided they have them). Our library is small and that aren't too many books that I have been able to borrow. I don't keep too many books at home now. If I buy them and happen to share them, when everyone is finished with them, I donate them to the library. I usually end up buying them because the library doesn't have them.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE books!!!  I buy them, borrow them from friends, and make a visit to the library at least once a week.  I've got boxes and boxes of books that I've bought and read.  I always wanted a home that had a library......one room with nothing but shelves full of my books, a comfortable couch or chair, and a good light to read by.  I would rather spend hours reading a good book than spend 10 minutes watching tv.  Fiction is my passion, but I'll also pick up non-fiction if it's on a subject that interests me. I don't read magazines very often though.....usually just my gamer mags and Rolling Stone.

Oh yeah, whenever we talk about our dream house, it has to have a den.  Which is pretty much a library.  Right now we have 5 bookcases and they're all overflowing with books.  We want to get a set of bookcases that stack together so we can fit all the books in a little more efficiently.

Since my daughter works at our library, she's allowed to go through the donation boxes and take anything she wants.  She's always bringing me books she thinks I'd like.  After I read them, I have her put 'em back in the donation box.  Our library has quarterly booksales; everything in the donation boxes gets sold and they use the money to add to their funds to purchase new books for the library.  If you want to donate a book specifically for the library's collection, you have to hand it to the people at the Circulation desk.

Love to read! I have a coworker who gives many of her books to me after she reads them. I do buy once in awhile but I often don't have to because she gives me so many. I talk about going to the library but I never do. I guess I just like the book being mine. If I really don't like the book I will give it away but I usually keep them.

Oh and I pick up a few books from our work's rummage sales too.
