A federal court in California ruled earlier today that MGA Entertainment, the current producer of the Bratz line of dolls, is not the legal owner of the copyright on those dolls and therefore must cease production immediately. Apparently, the original design for the dolls was drawn by a contract employee of Mattel, Inc., who therefore owns the rights to the dolls based on the employee's contractual agreement in regard to such intellectual properties.
Here is my question: Why would anyone buy these dolls for their kids anyway? They look like little street walking queens!

See... that's what I'm talking about, DS! Like that is something I would want to encourage in my 6 year old granddaughter! Someday you too can grow up to be a hooker!

The whole thing makes me ill. On the up side, when I asked my daughter in law about what kind toys she thought Miah might like, she did "No Bratz please!" I asked her if she really thought I would even consider those toys, she said "You? No! I just tell everybody because some of the family doesn't think about things like that." Obviously since these dolls are such big sellers, there are lots of people who do think them acceptable children's toys.
