BAD NEWS from Freeze-Frame Headquarters

Not to dump a crap load of, well, crap on you, but I want to let everyone know of some changes soon to come here at Freeze-Frame Radio, and why those changes are being made.

I have mentioned a few times in the past, on the air and in the forum, that my life has been in a bit of turmoil for the last year.

In the past 12 months I have had to deal with my father being diognosed with cancer (a fight we're still involved in), my mother have some emotional problems (in part because of my fathers situation), my dog needing two major back surgeries, and the complete collapse of my two businesses which I ran from home for the past seven years (both failed because of circumstances not in my control).  Not a banner year.

I've come to the end of the line as far as the businesses go.  I am working to rebuild one, but because I am essentially financially strapped I have no choice but to accept a full time job (actually, more than full time, 55 hours a week).

The pay is great, and it's a job I think I'll be able to enjoy, but the goal is to save money and by winter of this year go full force into my own business again.

The end result of this is that you will no longer hear me on-air, and while the auto-request system will always be there for you, direct requests will be significantly delayed.

Obviously most of my posting in the forum will now be in the late evenings.

I have really come to enjoy the station since we added the forum, and for the breif time that I was truly DJ'ing for 6 hours a day (lately I haven't been on air much because of the issues mentioned above taking a lot of my time).

I hope that soon I'll be back in a position to work at home, and that these other issues will have cleared up so that I can enjoy broadcasting again.

While I understand if some of you wind up finding another station, I really hope that you'll all stick with us through this time.  There will be some bumps, because I won't be here to fix problems that come up.  There may be days where we go off the air because of an internet drop and we don't return until hours later.  I know this can be frustrating, but again, if you'll bear with us and come back the next day or later that same day, we will always be here.

Finally, the bingo game will have to come to an end with this current game.  Once we have a new winner there will be no more for the time being.  DO NOT THROW AWAY YOUR CARDS, as I will try to come up with a new method, even if it's just posting one number per day at night on the forum.

Thank you all for being such loyal listeners!

I wish you good luck with your business ventures and your personal challenges Jeremy.  Although we'll miss hearing you on the air, I'm sure most of us will stick around anyway - how can we not, with such a great request system and great people on the community forum!

I've been there and understand why you have to make that decision.  I'm still a loyal listener and will keep listening in hopes that we'll hear you live on the air again.

Although it's not as cool, can you pre-record some spots for during the day?  Is there any way any of us can help?  I know we probably can't DJ for you, but is there anything any of us can do to help things to continue to run smoothly?

Mz,

I am going to HAVE to pre-record the sponsership spots that we have sold which help pay for the station.

Hopefully I can figure out how to have our software play the spots automatically during the day, but if I can not, I may simply list the slots somewhere on the request list and ask one of the listeners to request them twice a day (that would atleast get them on the air).

I should be able to figure out how to schedule them though, so I don't think it will come to that.

If you can schedule them, you could still pre-record bingo, you'd just have to pick all 3 numbers the night before...

Right, but I'm leary about that because of a few things.

First, the commitment of pre-recording new numbers each day (which is more work than you would think, at least the way we have the studio set up).

Second, the ORDER of the bingo would be very important.  ie:  If someone got a bingo with the first number, and then another person got the bingo with the third number, it could create problems.

But we'll figure something out, pre-recorded is a possible option, posting them is another option.  Perhaps JD could post them during the day.  He usually stops on the forum a few times a day.

Good Luck Riggs!

I know its going to be hard not working at home, you can't sit around in your underwear anymore, you'll have to cut your hair and full beard, wear deoderant, trim your fingernails etc.

I don't think you'll have to worry about any of us going anywhere!

We all get along and can entertain each other.

Again good luck and we look forward to seeing your posts when you can.

Yeah Jeremy.  We're all here to support you.  Good luck on the new job.  No one wants to work that many hours, especially with the additional stresses that have hit your life recently.

We'll be here for you.

Jeremy, I'm saddened to hear about all of the tragic things that are happening to you and your family right now.  I will keep you and all of yours in prayers.  I don't get to listen right now because of my computer problems, but when it is fixed, I will be back.  You can't get rid of me that easily!  This isn't just any old radio station, it's seems more like a family and family sticks together.  If there is anything I can do to help, I'm here.  I'm sending good thoughts and prayers your way and hoping that it helps.  God bless you and your family.

Riggs man-

How about re-airing a t-10 here or there during the day? Those listeners not in "the know" would never know the difference! It'd be like the best of Riggs show- Great Songs, Great DJ...just a thought.

Or I can quit my job and take over day-time djing for awhile. throw me a pillow, blanket, 2 cans of chunky soup a day, and I'll never leave the studio!

Actually, re-airing a top 10 show during the day would be great, since I never get to hear them at their current time slot because I'm always in bed by then, being on the east coast here!

I think it will still be an awesome station, but you will be missed!

Thanks for all you do!

Thanks guys.

I will work on trying to set up the T10 to run during the day.  Atleast you'd get a little human voice during the day, and I would still get the enjoyment of broadcasting, I'll just be recording it later in the evening.

Yeah the T10 would be great Jeremy, also if you need anyone to request the ads for you during the day or night in my case, let me know and I would be happy to request them for you when I can.

Jeremy:  I believe I speak for more than just myself, but you have a loyal following and a few bumps will not deter us.  Like it or not, you are stuck with us.

A little ray of hope has broken through the clouds

It looks like my new job is going to run from 11:30 to 7:30 every day, so I'll actually be able to be on the air a little bit, until about 11 AM CST every day.  It's not much, but it's something!

This is definately going to be a temporary thing though, I'm restructuring some things, and by fall will be back in business for myself, so my schedule should go back to normal.

WOO HOO!

I'm glad to hear it, Jeremy!  Here's hoping you get a few more rays of sunshine breaking through.  Heck, I'm praying for a sunstorm!

Thanks Trish!

I think the skies are gonna be clearin' soon.

Most of the areas that are causing problems are getting fixed.  The two wild cards right now are my dog and my Dad.

I've done everything I can for my dog, now it's a waiting game.

Unfortunately my Dad just saw his doctor today for a full exam, and the cancer is not getting better, but it's also not getting worse, so he's got to remain on chemo.  We had hoped it would be over now, because he's put in his originally recommended six months of treatment, but we'll have to go longer.  It will all be worth it though if we can eventually force it into remission.

Thanks again for your well wishes!

Jeremy-

I'm sorry about your circumstances.  I, too, will pray for you and your family.  I am also happy that trish's prayers worked and you can have a morning show.  I will definitely be tuned in.  But not only for that I wouldn't leave FF radio if they paid me!  Especially after how awesome you have been to me.

Hey, I listen the most from 8-11 anyway, woohoo!  (And, I'm in Indiana, and we don't use daylight savings, so we're on the same time as the east coast for half the year and as the midwest for the other half, so it works out perfectly!)  But, you're going to start making us hungry!

good, good people here Riggs, pulling for you. I've met Rigg's dad a few times, when we got together to watch football at the studio. Really a nice guy, old school, looks like he'd be a boxer back in his day. He really likes Rigg's dog too- they like each other immensly! We are here pulling for them both!!
