Fraud Prevention is job one, unless it's gonna cost you a sale.

I had to laugh this morning.

I ordered something online last night from an internet-only store.  It's not a well known company (FuturePowerPC) but they've been around awhile, get good reviews and generally have some of the lowest prices available for electronics.

Add to that the fact they have free shipping and no sales tax (since they have no physical store in WI) and it's a good deal usually.

Well, last night I ordered an item for $340.  This morning their fraud prevention had flagged it and left me a message to call them.

Right now my credit card is billed to my Mom's house because I have all my mail going there until I find my own place again.  But I wanted this item delivered to Erica's because it's coming via UPS and I don't want them scaring my grandmother who is alone at my Mom's all day.

Anyway, the guy says for the order to go through I have to do one of two things.  Either A) let them ship it to my moms address or B) call my credit card company and have them add the second address as a shipping address.

I said "Well I'll tell you what, we'll just have to cancel the order then because I can't get UPS at the first address and I'm not going to call the credit card company because I've never heard of such a thing as having a shipping address on file with them".

Suddenly there was a third option.  He could TRY to send the order through as is.

Well whaddya know.  It went through.  Whodda thunk it hey?  biggrin.gif

Bill to address doesn't necessarily equal ship to address. I can't recall having an issue like that before.

I've had that happen a few times before . . . pay for something with a personal card and have it delivered to work.

I got that line once too about the "shipping address on file". I did call my credit card company and they said they do that. They added the work address and I've not have any problems since then.
