Gas

WHERE TO BUY YOUR GAS,
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW.

Why didn't George W. think of this?
Gas rationing in the 80's worked even though we grumbled about it.
It might even be good for us!
The Saudis are boycotting American goods.
We should return the favor.
An interesting thought to boycott their GAS.

Every time you fill up the car, you can avoid putting more money into
the coffers of Saudi Arabia. Just buy from gas companies that don't
import their oil from the Saudis.

Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill-up
the tank, I am sending my money to people who are trying to kill me, my
family, and my friends.

I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil companies
are the best to buy gas from and which major companies import Middle
Eastern oil :

SAUDI OIL DISTRIBUTORS

Shell............................. 205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco......... 144,332,000 barrels
Exxon /Mobil............... 130,082,000 barrels
Marathon/Speedway... 117,740,000 barrels
Amoco............................62,231,000 barrels
If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18
BILLION!
**********************************************************************
Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:
Citgo......................0 barrels
Sunoco...................0 barrels
Conoco...................0 barrels
Sinclair.....................0 barrels
BP/Phillips..............0 barrels
Hess.......................0 barrels
ARC0.0 barrels

All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and
each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are
importing.

From what I understand the problem is not so much with the supply but the demand.  I guess the Chinese are buying as much or more oil as the U.S.  I saw a report that they are buying Buick's like crazy.  They are considered "sexy" in China.  What we need to do is support all those midwestern farmers and turn that corn in ethonal. It's cleaner to burn and it's a win-win for the good ol' US of A!

Some guy at work says that he heard GM might end one of their car lines because they can't compete anymore- Buick may be gone??

What is the price per gallon of regular in your area?

In Western SD it is $2.13.

$2.21-$2.26 as of last saturday, but thats because we get the special reformulated gas, the kind that ruins fuel injectors and lawn mower engines

The last time I bought gas, I was driving from Southern Indiana to Northern Indiana and back.  The lowest was $2.03, the highest was $2.19.  That was about a week ago.

Yikes-- you guys are lucky with that price.  I paid 2.43 and thought that was a bargin.  Some of the name brand stations are up to 2.49 here in Southern California.

California is always one of the highest with gas prices.  It's those darn huge freeways!  And of course, the stylish SUVs..

I fall guilty to the SUV's to some degree.  My wife and I have identical twin Toyota Highlanders.  They are great cars.

I guess I won't complain that the price jumped to $2.28 Monday in Indianapolis.  I only filled half a tank last week waiting for the price to drop from $2.12 a gallon.  Looks like I made a mistake.

Ultimo,

I'll shut up now and be happy.  Have gas prices spiked in England and the rest of Europe too?

Our Gas prices have always been alot higher than the US, mainly due to our goverments tax policy, about 69% of the price of our gas is tax! Im not sure about the rest of europes prices though!

Our prices have actually just fell slightly not risen! but as you can see still way too high!!

Just checked the French prices and it looks like there paying about €4.00 a gallon which in dollars is about $5 a gallon roughly, so there a bit cheaper than the UK but not much! and still lots more than the US!

But I've also heard that public transportation is better in the UK, is that right?  At any rate, I guess we should be thankful for our two bucks, huh?

Ray, hey neighbor!  I live in Bloomington, and our prices are about the same as yours.  Sometimes they'll go higher than Indy, which really makes no sense to me.  When I go north, I usually stop in Martinsville for gas, they seem to have the cheapest south of Indy.  If I'm going further north (like when I go up to the Region to visit family), the cheapest is at a gas station on 18 just south of Grissom AFB.  Something to think about if you're doing any traveling...

I can't speak for anywhere else but our public trasportation in Indianapolis consists of buses.  It may be more effective if more people used it but most people drive.  There would have to be a major overhaul in the thought process to get people to use public transportation.  It's too easy to get in and out of town and there's plenty of parking.  If more peole lived in the downtown area I think it would be more accepted.  However, I really believe it's looked upon as low income transportation.

Good day neighbor too, MzHartz.  I've found some of the cheaper gas has been if Franklin and Whiteland, I live in Greenwood. But as soon as you think you've found cheap gas it seems to jump up to the going price with everyone else.

It's true, the grass, er, gas isn't always cheaper on the other side of the pond.  Sorry, bad joke.

In the Chicago area, we get to be the pawns in all the county politics.  Gas in rural counties is running just over $2.00 per gal., in the collar counties it's about $2.10/$2.20, but in Cook County it's $2.35+.  Ya gotta love Richie Daley and "Da Boyz".

Oh!  Jumping back in the discussion, GM recently killed Oldsmobile and are dumping their electric cars.  Hybrids are proving more sucessful.  There is hope, however!  BMW has a hydrgen combustion engine that cranks out 250 horsepower.  That's why we love Europe, Ultimo.

$2.39.9 in Milwaukee today. OMFG. One of the best moves I made was to get employment that is 10 minutes from my house. Let me tell you tho- the octane is not the same with this expensive sh*t either. I am supposed to get 28 mpg city driving according to the sticker, its more like 15. what a racket.

I just filled up at Albertsons Express this afternoon.  $2.00 for regular unleaded, $2.10  and $2.20 for the others.  Call the cops, we are being robbed.

Hey!  How is it possible that Amaco buys from OPEC but BP doesn't?  Aren't they the same company?

Also, GM is talking about dumping either Buick or Pontiac.  Just talk for right now, however.

That email about who buys foreign oil has been around forever, long before BP/Amoco merged.

I don't even think the emails legit, I think it's one of those internet legends.  If it were true I can't beleive none of the companies would use it in their advertising as an incentive to buy from them.

I guess compared to the UK I still cannot complain, but filled up at $2.54 yesterday.  It kills me.

I would rather fill up in St. Louis, as opposed to Illinois.  Our local station pretty much tries to hold down the price in Illinois, he's a great guy.  He was at $2.12 the day before yesterday.  It was $1.94 in St. Louis.  I like to support our local station, but I'm driving myself today and will have to fill up over here in St. Louis.  My sister lives in Germany and she says on the economy it is around $5.50 a gallon for gas there.  Ouch.

I'm buying a horse.

That's it, if we all start buying horses, then when the price of grain goes up, gas will drop, and we can start driving cars again!  But, I don't know if my neighbors will be happy if I tie a horse up outside the front door... (I live in a townhouse).

Unbelievable.  I just left the gas station.  It's jumped to $2.63.  Time to look at buying a hybrid.
