I don't think I will be able to go to any games this year. As of now, it doesn't fit in the finances. I will cheer and grumble from afar. And I am always willing to throw down with JR. If SG stays with the Rays I can support him. But if he tries to defend them stinkin' Muts I am going to have to politely disagree.

JR - I know you are so excited for the new year. And for your baseball sanity I hope it is alot of what you really believe. You know I have no problems rooting for the Brewers as long as they are not in my Phillies' way. I think it should be a good year. Here's hoping that the Phils at least capture the NL East crown again this year.
Let's go Phillies!
I think our spring training "games" start Wednesday.

Same here Fuzz. GO PHILLIES (as long as their winning in no way effects the Brewers negatively).
I'm more than happy to have you win your division and go undefeated against the NL Central other than the Brewers!
Meanwhile, from Brewer camp it's just good news after good news. Players are finally pulling their heads out of their butts and making the right decisions.
Fielder lost weight. Gagne came back for a minor league deal. Gagne & Gallardo both turned down playing in the WBC because they didn't want to risk injury and hurt the Brewers chances this year.
Some day I will be able to go to Clearwater FL for Spring Training. That can be tough when you work in a tax world and the company is on a calendar year basis. But after I win the lottery and retire, I will be able to spend the month of March in FL. I don'tthink that is a bad deal.

Just starting to figure out my spring training attendance schedule......looks like a trip to Jupiter and Port St. Luice right now...maybe a game in Lakeland and Vierra. Might also hit Kissimmee if the schedule permits!
As for the Regular season....THE METS are it (numero uno!) but the Rays will be my AL team again.
And I hope the steroid syringe just pops on the Yanks.....
Actually I honestly didn't Fuzzy. I suppose it makes sense though, all the east coast teams are probably grapefruit league and the west coast teams are probably all Cactus league. I'm not sure why we wound up in Cactus league though, seems like we'd be closer to the eastern teams.
Ryan Braun is leaving camp Tuesday to go play for the USA in the World Baseball Classic.
I do not understand why MLB set the WBC up to begin with. These players are too valuable. We can't be losing practice time and risking injury when we've invested 50 million in a guy.
A lot of the guys aren't playing. I think many teams would prefer they not play. I know the risk of injury is close to the same whether you are playing in the WBC or are at spring training, but still, it is different when you gert hurt with your own team.

The Pirates are gonna kick all your sorry a**es this season!!!
Ah, what? This isn;t the 1970's?
Oh, what I meant was the Pirates will lose to all your sorry a** teams this year on their way to a record-breaking 17th consecutive losing season! Go Bucs!!!
Poor Murs. The Pirates. But at least you understand my pain for so long. The Phillies have had better years recently. At least they are out of that losing season streak for now.

I dont know why the MLB Union doesnt get that....competitive balance would be good for the game, which would put more money into MORE player pockets, not jsut alot of money into the top tier players pockets.
Actually Bud has wanted a cap...he just hasnt built the consensus with the owners...The Yanks and the Sox and the few "haves" keep rebuffing it.
Selig is pretty sharp, but he takes a bad rap from the media.
MLB must like the job he is doing...he keeps getting rehired.
I do know this...Bud loves the game and wants what is best for it. He was a good owner with the Brewers until the economics of the game moved past what the turnstyle and local TV provided.
You are right fuzzy...but maybe we can check out the draft in NYC some year...you can wear your Eagles gear and I can wear the jersey of the most championship winning team in history (12, count em 12). Mema can wear her Chiefs gear and Riggs can wear his Jets jersey or whatever team he is following this week.
But baseball is almost here and thats a good thing too!
