Thanks to the folks at spinner.com for coming up with a list of lyrics that no longer make sense.
In Morrissey's "America Is Not the World," off 2004's You Are the Quarry, the line is "America..Where the president is never black, female or gay/And until that day, you've got nothing to say to me."
Well, that was only four years ago, but, yeah, we have a black president now.
Other references are longer dead, mostly related to the telecom industry:
"Put another dime in the jukebox, baby" in Joan Jett's "I Love Rock 'N' Roll."
"I'm in the phone booth, it's the one across the hall," goes Blondie's "Hanging on the Telephone." That's from back in 1978. Good luck finding a phone booth now.
Even OutKast's "Hey Ya!" makes the list for "shake it like a Polaroid picture." Hey, that was pretty much outdated when it was released in 2003, right? And, besides, that line still works, doesn't it?
