Um, well, that would mean that I also would have also had to do something to this point. Other that tayloring what I eat, I kinda haven't done a darn thing to help myself. I am ashamed and embarrased. I have good intentions, but they easily get pushed aside.

Kudos to JR for being the biggest loser this week!
And congrats to the rest of us losers too!
Fuzzy, what kind of activites do you really enjoy doing? If you have or find something you really like doing, it makes it so much easier to get motivated and stick with it. It also helps to have a time of day that works best for you to get some exercise in. One of the hurdles I had to overcome was finding the right time during the day to get my biking in. For some reason, I always thought I had to exercise in the morning. Mornings don't work for me because I roll out of bed at 6:00, grab breakfast and a shower then hit the door by 6:30 to get to work......no way was I going to get up any earlier to squeeze in some exercise before heading to work. I found the best time that works for me is right after I get home from picking my daughter up from school; while she's doing homework, I can bike for 40 minutes before I have to start getting dinner ready along with all the rest of the "routines" I have. Some people find evenings work best for them as long as it's not too close to bedtime.
I know you work and have a long commute, which cuts into your time. If you're into walking, is there a mall you pass on your way home? Lots of people walk the malls as a form of exercise. Does joining a gym appeal to you? If so, do you pass one on your drive home? What about your lunch hour?......I don't know how much time you get for lunch or the circumstances where you work, but if you have the time and opportunity you could get a 30 minute walk in during lunch hour....might even have a co-worker that would be interested in joining you on a walk. Do you own a bike? Biking around the neighborhood can be a great stress reliever while getting some exercise and fresh air. Own a dog, or do any neighbors have one?.....volunteer to walk it for them 3-5 times a week. Live near a high school that has an outdoor track? Most high school tracks are quarter mile tracks.....4 times around is a mile and they're usually really nice surfaces to walk on and it's a great way to keep track of how many miles you're walking.
I'm just trying to give you some ideas to work with.
Thanks Ghost. I know. I am not a morning person so mornings are out for me. My activities would have to be in the evening. With the exception of Friday, I don't get home before 7pm. That sets me back right there. When I arrive I generally feel like I could eat a house. So, naturally I want to eat dinner. You aren't supposed to exercise on a full stomach. Having something to eat (even something small ti tide me over until dinner) and then a workout usually don't sit well with my stomach. Even just walking on a treadmill will upset it. Depending on what I am having for dinner and the mess I make in the kitchen, I may not be ready to do anything until 8pm. Then there is my general laziness which seems to take over. If I arrived home and went into a workout, it wouldn't last or be productive. Be hungry gets in the way. Having a small snack and then a workout may work, but then I am eating dinner at 9pm. That isn't good either. I can't ride my bike around home. I would probably would get run over. And I won't ride in the dark. I don't pass anything on the way home. It is all highway driving. No dog.
I know I need to do it and I know it sounds like just a bunch of excuses. I am just having the hardest time getting started. It was a lot easier to stick to a routine when I was laid off. This whole having to work thing to provide for myself gets in the way.

I'll tell you what, if you want to have fun while you exercise get one of those Wii's! Since we got it I've been addicted to Bowling, Tennis, Boxing, etc.
It's incredible. Last night I bowled 10 straight games in about an hour and when I was done I was sweating. And that's the EASIEST of the games.
I'm sure it doesn't replace work out equipment, but an hour of moving around playing a game beats an hour of sitting in a chair watching TV (and in my case probably snacking too).
Good point JR! Every once in a while we borrow a Wii from my daughter's friend, and I agree, Wii sports can count as a workout. The bowling and tennis are fun! Fuzzy, if you can afford it, a Wii would be a great option for you! They also sell the Wii Fit that you might want to check out. It's an accessory that goes along with the Wii.
I think its going good! Its encouraging to have everyone involved. There have been quite a few times that Lori has said "I'm doing this for the group" as she gets ready to exercise.
One of my little goals was to get the first number in my weight from a "2" to a "1". If this week goes as well as last, that could happen this week. I'm not going to expect it to happen this week, but it should next.
Last week wasn't a good one for me, I did ok food wise, didn't fall off the wagon or anything, just couldn't lose any weight, just need to up my exercise this week I think, I did 32 mins Wii Fit last night, and tonight plan to do some serious weight training, hope to lose atleast a couple of pounds this week.
Congrats to all of you for doing this. Its a great way to lose weight when you have friends to support you.
Although I missed in on this. I do have the other incentives to do so. Since I now work for BLue Cross Blue Shield. They are very big into healthy eating and serve healthy snacks in the vending machines, they also give you 200.00 a year as a reimbursement for things that help you or your family get back in shape ( the Wii Fit, new Bowling shoes and ball etc) I found out that my Bowling league fees are also reimburseable for about 6 months of fees. They will reimburse you for Smoking cessation items, weight loss items, etc. Its definately good to have.
As of now I have dropped 7 pounds and I am down from 15 ciggarettes a day to 6. small steps
