British actress reportedly suffers traumatic head injury in skiing accident
MONTREAL - British actress Natasha Richardson was in critical condition in a Montreal hospital after being severely injured in a skiing accident in Quebec, according to published reports.
The Evening Standard newspaper said Richardson, 45, had suffered a traumatic head injury at the ski resort of Mont Tremblant, about 75 miles from Montreal. She is married to actor Liam Neeson.
Corin Redgrave, Richardsons uncle, told the newspaper: I have heard this morning from a family representative about Natashas accident and am very saddened.
The BBC said a member of Richardson family, who asked not to be named, said the whole family was very distressed. Richardson, 45, is the daughter of actress Vanessa Redgrave and the late director Tony Richardson. She married Neeson in 1994 after they both appeared in the film "Nell" and they have two sons.
Richardson won a Tony award for best actress in a musical in 1998 for her role in "Cabaret." Her film credits include "The Parent Trap" and "The Handmaid's Tale."
In January, Richardson and her mother played the roles of mother and daughter in a one-night benefit concert version of "A Little Night Music," the Stephen Sondheim-Hugh Wheeler musical, at the Nokia Theatre Times Square in New York.
