RIP FAVORITE LIGHT BULB, EVER!

Years ago, like when PIP first joined the forum, I went on in either one of the favorite product threads, or things I love thread, about one of the new-fangled energy saving, long life light bulbs. I am guessing this must have been in 2006 or so. At this time, that bulb was at least 5 yrs old, and was still burnng. Well today, it finally died. I am guessing approximately that I got 9 years out of a bulb that at that time, wasn't even advertising the fact that it was guaranteed to last 7 yrs (like its promoted today.)

RIP bulb. damn. I am stunned at the longevity of this product. Job, well done. There is a ton of my life history in the kitchens of my places that was illuminated by this bulb. It was always kept on, too- it was the house(s) night light. I bet if I turned it off after use, I coulda got another decade out of it. good good job. quality lightbulb.

I've switched most of my house to them. Went on a bulb swapping spree about 2 years ago. I've only had to replace two of them... little ones in the kitchen ceiling fan light.

Nothing can be better than the "black" lite. We had a Hendrix poster that was wicked cool in the black lite. Or, sorry, wrong thread.

Lights are cool, sure that's what I meant.

Yep. It's funny, if you could see what it really looked like, it might not look as cool. In our minds eye, cooool!

That's great JR
Me and my ex bought a big ugly one just after we started out together in July 91.
It lived in 3 houses and died in late '02 early '03, just before we split up...12 years!!!

The only thing I really hate about them other than the pricetag is sometimes having to wait for them to warm up enough emit the requisite amount of light.

Nice!  Most of mine come on full blast right from the start. The obvious exceptions are the big one in the ceiling downstairs in my family room and the one in the left hand light fixture in my master bathroom... right side is instant. hmm.gif

I agree.  We have a 3 way lamp in the living room, so I end up cranking it up to the highest setting, then when it warms up, it seems like we're lighting the whole neighborhood.

Anyone else find it funny that not only do we have a thread about lightbulbs, but that we've stayed on topic the entire time?

I know we have sucha a wide variety of stuff, but I didn't think it was possible to stay on topic the entire time.
