cost cutting measures? or brilliant?

ok I just got an email from my boss telling me that anyone within the company that we rated a 1 or a 2 out of 5 on their latest review will be getting a 10% pay cut. The rest of us will be getting a 2% increase. So the way I see it is that you get a huge punishment for being an idiot....or a slap in the face raise for working your butt off all year.

I think the idea is that anyone that got the low scores will most likely quit....that is brilliant...get rid of them.

But to cut the raises for those that really deserve them? I should have a 5% increase this year...I got a 5 out of 5 for the first time ever...I worked hard for that raise and its cut in half??? thats crappy.

At least you get something of a raise. We haven't had raises in 2 years now.

Most of us aren't getting a raise. And I know a few people who have taken a pay cut. I understand about the whole busting your butt for 2% though. Since you did well this year, see if the boss can score you a few more days off. Another week of vacation might be good.

We haven't gone to pay cuts yet. Rumor has it that if we get rebadged to Ericcson that it might happen. As far as I know, none of the rebadging to other vendors have included actual pay cuts, but who knows?

it doesnt seem legal unless you a company change or something but I guess they can always just lay you off if you dont accept the pay decrease.

I'm not sure what all the legalities are that come into play when one company rebadges you to another. Technically I become an employee of the new company, so I guess it all depends on how the contract is written between the two companies. Sprint's policy is that all paycuts do is decrease morale... that is why they are such fans of the layoffs.
