Teen suing tattoo artist

Scarred for life: The teenager who asked tattooist for THREE stars on her face and ended up with FIFTY-SIX

A teenage girl is suing a tattoo artist for £8,500 after she allegedly asked him for three stars on her face - but ended up with 56.

Eighteen-year-old Kimberley Vlaminck paid £55 for 'the graffiti that has ruined my life' in her Belgian home town of Courtrai.

She claimed the Romanian tattooist who performed the artwork misunderstood her French and English.

She claims she fell asleep while he was doing his work... and awoke to 'this nightmare'.

'It is terrible for me,' said Kimberley. 'I cannot go out on to the street, I am so embarrassed. I just look horrible.'

'I think he didnt understand what I wanted. He spoke only fractured English and French.

'But I explicitly said in my native tongue, French, and also in a little bit of English when he looked confused, that I wanted three little stars only near my left eye.'

Rouslan Toumaniantz, who runs the tattoo parlour called The Tattoo Box in Courtrai, denies her claim.

He said she knew 'exactly what she wanted'.

He added: 'She was awake and looked into the mirror several times as the procedure was taking place.

'The trouble all started when she went home and her father and boyfriend threw a fit.

'They are saying things now like I doped her or hypnotised her. What rubbish!

'She asked for 56 stars and thats what she got.'

To remove the stars would require surgery costing £8,500.

But even the most advanced laser techniques would, while removing the tattoos, leave deep white marks all across Kimberley's face.

She has launched legal proceedings against Toumaniantz seeking damages, plus the money for the operation.

He was questioned by police earlier this year but they decided it was a civil matter and that there was nothing they could do.

Jules Clocher, a Belgian psychologist, said: 'The trauma this girl must be feeling is indescribable.  She feels like a circus freak - and no wonder, because she looks like one.'

I'd even think the three she wanted would make her look freaky.

there was this girl in one of the bars in New Orleans who had a tatoo'd face. I think that trying to be cool thing blew up on her. Even her hipster friends seemed to keep her at an arms-length distance.....

like Ted Knight said- "The world needs ditch-diggers too...."

LOL

I believe the tattooist on this one.

She first said he didn't understand.

Then they claim he drugged her. Yeah, right. He drugged her so he could do 18x the work he was getting paid for.

Next, she'll be suing the salesperson who sold her that belt buckle too.

You know the only question I want to ask is why?

And I agree JD, even three small stars near her eye wouldn't look good either.

There is no f-ing way she "fell asleep" while getting a tattoo unless she has a monsterous threshhold for pain. It is not exactly what one would call a soothing feeling. I believe the tattoo artist on this one.

Besides, any self respecting tattoo artist WON'T do something that they aren't sure you want. I have one tattoo on my right ankle... I wanted it to completely cover a sugical scar, which I explained to "Big Mike" (the tattoo artist). He argued me for 20 minutes before agreeing to partially cover the scar because of the sheer pain involved in tattooing over a scar.

I agree with the tattoo artist on this one too, that's why I posted it.

Plus, I'm sure they agreed on the price beforehand, and she paid it.

And come on, sleeping while anyone does anything to your face, or with a tattoo gun next to your ear, would be hard enough, nevertheless having needles repeatedly pounded into your skin.

And that looks like a pretty planned out pattern for a misunderstanding.

There's this girl I see in town who had the typical body modification stuff, one of those curled spiky things through an ear, a gauge in the other, facial piercings, tattoos, dreadlocks, etc. She has this ugly whole face tattoo. The problem is, this girl would be friggin' beautiful if she weren't so obsessed with mutilating herself. I mean, drop dead gorgeous.

If anything, if the tattoo artist stays in business, I can guarantee he'll have people write down and sign their orders from here on out.

I don't understand why people do that to themselves knowing they will have to get a job. I don't care how talented you are, who is going to hire you looking like that?

She is going to lose the lawsuit unless she can prove she was drugged. Why would he drug her anyway? Nobody slips someone a roofie so they can give them a really dumb tattoo.

I don't understand how the teenagers can do this stuff to themselves without thinking about the future consequences.

Do they simply not think about? Or, do they somehow think that when they are 50, these holes in their ears and the big blotches of ink on their skin is somehow still going to look cool at that age?

I'm guessing that most of them aren't thinking about the future, or much else for that matter.

Now if that were facepaint, or a temporary tattoo, it would be kind of cool.

Most of them don't think about being old and gray. They don't think about the fact that they will someday maybe want to get a decent paying job or have children. They don't think past the hear and now. Its sad, but very very true.

There's no way she fell asleep while 56 stars were being applied to her face unless she was already buzzed before she went in to the tattoo place!  I went with my oldest girl a few months ago while she got a small tat applied, and while the guy was doing it, it brought tears to her eyes.  And like Mema said, you have to pay first for what you want done......there's no way the guy would've given her 56 stars if she only paid for 3.

I think this is a case of "I caught heck when I got home so now I'm gonna try to blame someone else for a decision I made."

I think she should get the other side done -- just to balance things out...

Can you hear the circus music?

Might as well have her hair cut into a mohawk and dye it fusha for the rest of her life. disbelief.gif Perhaps a few facial piercings to complete the look.

I just keep thinking of the scene from the movie "Carrie" when the mom didn't want Carrie to go to the prom...
