I have learned the hard way, again, the meaning of CYA. There has been a lot of trouble in the company that I work with. I just got made the fall guy. The COO even said to me that I was being crucified unfairly. Save every email, make notes of phone conversations and meetings especially when it comes to policy, procedure and sales. The hard part is not saving it for your defense within your company, but for your attorney. I am now having to sue, something I did not want to do. My consolation is more time for golf. Like Jeremy, my wife and I are now going back into business for ourselves. The pressure is excruciating, but at least we gain control.
Sorry to hear about your troubles, CP. I, too, found out the hard way to CYA. I had a file that I saved every e-mail and notes from every phone conversation I had when I used to work from the company from hell. You can never have enough notes. That is also good for when you have a problem wiht a credit card company or any company that you have to call in and have them fix something on your account. Make notes, who you spoke with, what the action was, the date, etc. Southwestern Bell's mobile phone department still to this day has sold my account to different collections agencies and each time I have to dig out the paperwork and show them that it is a mistake. Good thing I kept it. It was for over $150. Not a lot of money, but it's the principle. Hope things get better really soon for you and your wife.

Hang in there CP, It might not be a bad idea to carry along a small tape recorder also.
I've been thru similar situations where it came in very handy.
I don't know what the law is in your state, but here as long as one person (being you) knows the conversation is being recorded. Then it is admissible in court. Good Luck!

I understand all too well, CP. Business these days is a very tricky place, as the slow-down in my company will verify. My best to you for your new business, and I'm going to list you on the prayer thread!
Many thanks to all of you, especially the payer thread. I am remaining optomistic. Where one door closes another opens. My wife and I started a Landscaping Company, and I just got the phone call, after reading the prayer thread, that we were awarded our first contract. We got a three year contract to maintain a private golf course in Palm Springs. Now all I have to do is figure out how I can make money at doing it.
