Hump Day Is Here! Happy Wednesday

Good morning, all. It is very stormy here this morning and the national weather people assure me this is not going to change soon. They even say there is a possibility of tornados around the central states later this afternoon. Let's hope not.

This is the long part of my week... working at the office today, working from home all night tonight, going to the DMV tomorrow. For now at least, I feel I can muster some patience so it might not be as bad as it sounds.

Ah well... hump on. buggered.gif

Mornin'

First day of school. We're only four blocks from school now that he's in the 3rd-5th school. That means he can walk to and from as long as the weather is cooperative.

We had a rain shower sometime during the night and we share the chance of storms this afternoon.

Good morning, everyone!

Last night was "meet the teacher" night.  Isaac will be in first grade with a brand new teacher to the school.  She's a hugger -- she gave me a hug when we left blankstare -- unexpected... smile  Tomorrow school begins.

Currently, it is raining.

man, our school began the day after labor day. hmm

This summer is just flying by so fast, although the days seem to drag at work....

Think I best find me a tropical spot to spend winters.

Morning. Going to be another steamy day.

Let me give you a story to help get you ready for naptime:

We had a terrible storm last night. And my luck, I had to drive right into it to get home. If I hadn't stopped at Costco on the way home, I would have been tucked safely in my house when the storm arrived. It was one of those storms you knew would be bad. I was driving home and there was lightning everywhere. And yes, I mean everywhere. While it is pretty to look at it, it can be dangerous to do so while driving. But when some of these fantastic shots are right in front of your face, you just can't miss them. Whew! There was blackness in the clouds above. Behind that was that evil, eery green that you see and know you probably need to take cover. Or at least batton down the hatches. As I made my trek home I was a little past halfway there when the rain started. A few of those, big, fat isolated rain drops started to fall. When that happens you know all you can do is prepare for the downpour that is going to follow. The clouds teased me like that for about a mile until the evilness let loose and the skies opened up. It was a downpour where you have to put your flashers on for safety because if you don't you may not be seen. At this point the storm is right above me. You can't miss the lightning and immediate thunder. At one point I swear there was a lightning bolt about 100 yards from me. I slowly made my way along and got off at my exit. While it was still pouring, I followed the usual path home. While I was waiting at the light to make the right hand turn onto my street, home only a half mile away, I still had a hard time seeing more than a couple of feet in front of me. The light changed, as I start to turn the corner, I turned right into a large pool of flowing water. I didn't know it was there. I couldn't see it. It was easily up to the bottom of the car and I drive an suv. My immediate concerns turned to the creek which runs next to this road and winds down the street past my house. But I knew there was no way the creek was up that high. It was common sense that all the suddden rain couldn't drain as fast as it was coming down. Made it through there. Then I headed up about a block to another traffice light and proceeded through since it was green. I encountered another heavily flooded intersection. With caution through and trying to figure out the water level around me, I rolled my way down the street towards the house encountering more high water levels along the way. The water gradually faded out as the grade changed on the street and I got closer to the house. I pulled into the driveway and opened the garage. You know that yesterday was trash and recycle day. Neither was collected by the time I left for work yesterday morning. As I pulled into the driveway I noticed the bin and the can. Let's just say they had quite a bit of water when I went to bring them into the garage. I gathered my belongings, scampered out of the car and into the garage. I took my stuff into the house and set everything down. I sent a text to a friend and told him to stay away from those intersections I just came through. I received a message back -"just went through there". Oops, I tried. I went back outside to stand on the porch and watch the remainder of the light show. There really were some neat lightning strikes. Some more rain fell and after another 15 minutes it was all but gone. I then unloaded my goodies from shopping and carried on with my evening.

Good day all.

This morning set me off on a bad note.

We have a great neighborhood, where the neighbors are always outside just socializing with each other.

Last Friday, we were all outside, and someone broke out a beer pong table. At 1 am, the night manager came over and asked us to put it away and quiet down. I don't think we were being particularly loud, but there were a few people out there and it was later than we realized. It was a fair request. We went home as soon as he asked us to settle it down.

This morning I found a disturbance notice in our door saying we've violated our lease by participating in a loud party outside and that a copy was going in our permanent file!

I emailed the property manager saying that this is our first complaint in the 7 years we've been there, and we complied as soon as we were notified it was a problem.

Kick some butt Mz. I don't see what the problem was. You guys disbursed after someone complained. It would have been different if you guys had kept going and cvarrying on after asking to keep it down.

Maybe whoever complained was jealous they were invited to play with you guys.

I have to say that is about the third time I have been caught in a terrible storm like that this summer. One was on a weekend while returning from my mom's house and the other was another time on the way home from work. I guess I am just used to already being home when the skies explode.

Now, who is ready for a beverage? Maybe a mid morning snack?

That's the thing, anyone is welcome to come out with us. In fact, earlier that night, we took a group of new neighbors, 6 students from Malaysia, over to Big Lots to get mattresses because this was their first day in the US and they needed something to sleep on. And I made extra food for supper and shared it with another new neighbor who had just moved in last week from Kuwait. That's the great thing about our neighborhood, it really is neighborly, you just have to step out your door, smile, and say hi.

Crazy story, Fuzzy! Glad you made it home safe.

MZ, sounds like you might have a Propery Zaar rather than a manager. It's good that everyone gets along like they do.

Hey Mz - as I was rambling on about my silly story, it made me wonder what ever happened with your novel? I think you were going to do some editing and rewriting. But I don't remember much after that.

I've edited the first half about a dozen times, but I haven't touched the back half, which probably needs the most work. I'll decide to edit it, start at the beginning, and then end up slacking off. When I decide to edit again, I start back at the beginning again. I really need to at least get it edited before I write another book this November.

This next book I think I'm just going to make fun, it won't be able to be published. I think I want to write a zombie story and use friends and neighbors as characters.

Yeah, the old property manager was much better.  In fact, she would organize a party every year for all the residents.  It would go on until about midnight, and there would be pizza and music and prizes.  It was pretty fun.

The first year this new property manager was here, she didn't even have a party, she had free food in the office for a day, and by time we got there after work, it was all gone.  Then last year, she had a neighborhood picnic that no one went to because it was basically just picnic tables set up in the parking lot.

Seriously?  Are we back to picking on me while I sleep, unable to defend myself?  no.gif

Sounds like a GREAT bad storm Fuzzy!  Glad you made it home ok.  I kept worrying as I read the story (which by the way you COULD have broke into a paragraph or two wink.gif) that you were gonna get home and find major damage.  Glad it didn't turn out that way.

MZ, I always knew you were a rabble rouser at heart!  smile.gif  Partyin' 'til all hours of the morning.  no.gif  Seriously though, I agree.  After 7 years without a problem I think he could have given you a pass.  Essentially telling you to quiet down was a verbal warning, that should have been good enough for a first offense.

I just finished moving in the last peice of the new apartment puzzle, my exercise bike.  I've had it in the car for days but have been holding off because of the heat and humidity.  I didn't want to fight to get it out of the van on a really hot and humid day.

Turns out it came out a LOT easier than it went in.  smile.gif

So now everything is here, everything is assembled.  All that's left is to get a couple plants and decorate the walls.  No rush on that stuff.  I like to take my time.  The open walls are like a blank canvas.  Gotta think about how you want to express yourself on them, right?

Oh!  The new sound card is supposed to arrive today, so we'll be off the air for a bit after 5ish tonight while I install and test it.

That is all.  Carry on.

We are good at that. Besides, it isn't like I get to poke fun at you often. Now, get off my lawn!
